Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced UI Developer to translate design concepts into functional, visually appealing, and user-friendly interfaces. This role requires a strong blend of technical proficiency in front-end development and an understanding of design principles.

Location: [San Antonio/ Dallas]

Primary Focus: Front-End Development & Design Implementation

Proficiency in Front-End Technologies

  • A deep understanding and practical experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript are fundamental. These are the building blocks for creating web interfaces.

Front-End Frameworks and Libraries

  • Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks and libraries such as React, Angular, or Vue.js is often required, as they streamline development and enhance interactivity.

Responsive Design

  • The ability to create interfaces that adapt seamlessly across various devices and screen sizes (desktops, tablets, mobile) is crucial.

Cross-Browser Compatibility

  • Ensuring that the developed interfaces function correctly and consistently across different web browsers.

Version Control

  • Familiarity with version control systems like Git for collaborative development and code management.

UI Development Tools

  • Experience with design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD) to interpret and work with design mockups and prototypes.

Key Responsibilities

Translating Designs into Functional Code

  • The primary responsibility is to accurately convert UI/UX designs, wireframes, and mockups into functional code, ensuring visual fidelity and interactive elements match the design specifications.

User-Centric Design Principles

  • An understanding of user behavior, user-centered design, and usability best practices to create interfaces that are intuitive and enhance the user experience.

Visual Design Acumen

  • While not the primary designer, UI Developers need an eye for design to ensure the implementation is aesthetically pleasing, paying attention to layout, typography, and color.

Accessibility

  • Implementing designs according to accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) to ensure the application is usable by everyone.

Collaboration with Designers and Developers

  • Working closely with UI/UX designers to understand requirements, provide technical feedback, and with back-end developers for seamless integration.

Communication Skills

  • Effectively communicating technical concepts, design decisions, and potential issues to both technical and non-technical team members.

Problem-Solving and Debugging

  • Identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving technical issues and bugs within the user interface.

Attention to Detail

  • Meticulousness in coding and implementation to ensure pixel-perfect accuracy and consistency.

Prototyping

  • Ability to create prototypes to test and demonstrate UI elements and interactions.

Required Qualifications

  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks and libraries (React, Angular, Vue.js)
  • Responsive design expertise across devices and screen sizes
  • Cross-browser compatibility knowledge
  • Familiarity with version control systems (Git)
  • Experience with UI development tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD)
  • Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Problem-solving and debugging abilities
  • Attention to detail for pixel-perfect accuracy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Portfolio demonstrating UI development work
  • Experience with design systems
  • Track record in fintech, insurance, or member-facing digital products

Pay:

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Fractal, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is: $120,000 - $130,000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus for the current performance period.

Benefits:

As a full-time employee of the company or as an hourly employee working more than 30 hours per week, you will be eligible to participate in the health, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability plans in accordance with the plan documents, which may be amended from time to time. You will be eligible for benefits on the first day of Employment with the Company. In addition, you are eligible to participate in the Company 401(k) Plan after 30 days of employment, in accordance with the applicable plan terms. The Company provides 11 paid holidays and 12 weeks of Parental Leave. We also follow a “free time” PTO policy, allowing you the flexibility to take the time needed for either sick time or vacation.
