Job Purpose / Background

Global Active ETF assets are projected to triple to $4.2 trillion by 2030. As investor demand accelerates, BlackRock Global Markets (BGM) is investing in next-generation capabilities for our Active ETF franchise.

This role sits within the Fixed Income Platform & Markets team and is part of BlackRock Active ETF Solutions (BAES), which leads the development of BlackRock’s Active ETF primary market platform and operating model.

BlackRock Active ETF Solutions (BAES) is a technology-driven team responsible for building the firm’s primary market platform for Active ETFs. The team designs operating models and tools that enable seamless interaction between BlackRock’s Active ETFs and the broader ETF ecosystem, serving as a central hub to manage active ETF primary markets investment processes at scale.

  • Enhance liquidity and access for clients through scalable, technology-enabled and data-driven processes

  • Increase resilience and operational efficiency across primary markets

  • Improve tax efficiency and deliver better outcomes for Active ETF investors

The Role

Partner with Portfolio Managers and the Architecture team to design and scale next-generation Fixed Income ETF primary market capabilities, shaping how BlackRock delivers differentiated, resilient solutions for increasingly complex and active FI ETFs.

Operating at the intersection of investment and trading process design, platform capabilities, and the broader market ecosystem, this individual will bring deep fixed income market and ETF expertise, along with a strong platform mindset, to translate market structure into scalable, technology-enabled ETF solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Portfolio Managers and the Architecture team to design and evolve Fixed Income ETF primary market capabilities

  • Design and enhance ETF primary market operating models (creations/redemptions), with a focus on access, performance, and scale

  • Incorporate underlying fixed income market structure into platform and workflow design

  • Translate investment and market requirements into scalable, technology-enabled workflows in partnership with BAES and Engineering teams

  • Engage with authorized participants (APs), dealers, and liquidity providers to support ecosystem readiness and the evolution of operating models and market structure

  • Apply fixed income market and ETF expertise to deliver insights that improve primary market design, liquidity access, and overall market quality

  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to drive delivery, platform adoption, and commercial impact

Core Skillsets

  • Deep fixed income market expertise, with the ability to connect bond market structure and liquidity dynamics to ETF primary market design and outcomes

  • Strong platform and technical mindset, with the ability to translate market structure into scalable workflows, data requirements, and platform capabilities

  • Ability to bridge portfolio construction (PMs), execution (trading), and primary market mechanics (APs / dealers)

  • Analytical and data-driven approach to evaluating liquidity, execution quality, and platform performance

  • Credibility engaging with senior counterparties across dealers, APs, and market venues

  • Structured problem-solving skills, strong commercial judgment, and ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders

For New York, NY Only the salary range for this position is USD$137,500.00 - USD$194,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.

Our hybrid work model
