Vice President of Communications 

Location: Remote | USA

Reports To: Chief Marketing Officer (CMO)

About the Role:

We are looking for a strategic Vice President of Communications to build and scale a high-impact communications function from the ground up. This leader will drive both external and internal communications efforts, amplifying Lantern’s voice in the market and cultivating a transparent, engaged internal culture. The ideal candidate thrives at the intersection of storytelling, strategy, and execution—excelling at media relations, thought leadership, social media, and executive communications, while also laying the foundation for a best-in-class internal communications engine.

Key Responsibilities

External Communications & Brand Elevation:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive external communications strategy to increase brand visibility and reputation.
  • Drive consistent earned media placements by cultivating relationships with key journalists, publications and influencers.
  • Oversee and scale social media channels, ensuring alignment with brand voice and strategic priorities.
  • Identify, secure, and manage executive speaking opportunities, panels, and interviews at high-impact industry events.
  • Lead the strategy and execution for corporate awards and recognitions to highlight company achievements and innovation.
  • Build and elevate the thought leadership platform for the company and its key executives through content, bylines, podcasts, and strategic media opportunities.

Internal Communications & Culture:

  • Launch and manage a structured internal communications function that keeps employees informed, engaged, and aligned.
  • Create and maintain regular internal communications rhythms (e.g., town halls, newsletters, leadership updates).
  • Partner with HR and executive leadership to increase transparency and employee morale through clear, authentic messaging.
  • Develop internal messaging around company strategy, goals, milestones, and culture initiatives.

Team Leadership:

  • ·Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing communications team (including PR, content, and social specialists).
  • Manage agency relationships and other external vendors as needed.
  • Establish KPIs and reporting frameworks to measure impact across all communications efforts.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in communications, with 3+ years in a senior leadership or VP-level role.
  • Experience in the employer health space.
  • Proven success in scaling external communications efforts across earned media, social, and thought leadership.
  • Experience working with executives to craft compelling narratives and public personas.
  • Strong crisis communications and media relations expertise.
  • Track record of implementing internal comms programs that increase transparency and employee engagement.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual storytelling skills.
  • Highly collaborative, with a strategic mindset and bias for execution.

  • Experience in a high-growth scale ups; employer health space preferred
