About this role

ER Advisory Team Role Overview

The ER Advisory team sits within the Employee Relations function and plays a critical role in proactively managing people risks while partnering closely with business leaders. The team provides expert, practical guidance on complex employee matters, ensuring fair, consistent, and timely outcomes across the organization.

This specialized advisory function is trusted for its deep experience handling underperformance, involuntary exits, sensitive health and well‑being cases, and other high‑risk or non‑standard employment matters, always applying an equitable and thorough approach.

The Role:

  • Reporting to the Regional ER Advisory Lead, this role operates at the center of high‑impact employee matters across the Americas. You will:

  • Lead a broad range of ER cases, including disciplinary actions, employee conflicts, performance management issues, involuntary exits (including redundancies), and complex leaves of absence, driving cases through to resolution with sound judgment and professionalism

  • Partner closely with HR Business Partners, Legal, and senior ER leadership, ensuring transparency and alignment throughout the lifecycle of each case

  • Ensure accurate and timely execution of employee transactions in collaboration with HR and ER Operations

  • Interpret and apply ER policies and programs, translating them into clear, actionable guidance for managers, employees, and HR partners

  • Coach and support junior ER team members, contributing to capability building within the function

  • Leverage ER case management systems and metrics to identify trends, surface insights, and proactively mitigate risk

  • Collaborate with COE partners (including Talent Management, Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition, and Analytics) on cross‑functional initiatives

  • Support manager and HR education through training delivery and employment law updates

  • Contribute to reorganizations, M&A activity, and redundancy exercises, as well as other ER‑related projects as needed

What We’re Looking For:

  • The ideal candidate brings ER expertise, strong commercial judgment, and the ability to influence across stakeholders including senior leadership

  • At least 8 years of Employee Relations and/or HR Business Partner experience with significant ER advisory exposure

  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. employment law and its practical application (including FMLA, ADA, COBRA, Workers’ Compensation, and multi‑state considerations)

  • Experience with leaves of absence, short‑ and long‑term disability matters

  • Exceptional consultative, coaching, and conflict‑resolution skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to diverse audiences

  • A highly analytical, adaptable mindset with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously

  • A track record of integrity, sound judgment, and commitment to excellence

  • Financial services experience strongly preferred

For San Francisco, CA and NY7 - 50 Hudson Yards, New York Only the salary range for this position is USD$135,000.00 - USD$190,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
