Walker Sands is seeking a strategic, results-driven Vice President, Public Relations to lead our Seattle team in a hybrid role based out of our Seattle office. As a senior leader within the Strategic Communications department and a key member of the agency’s Senior Leadership Team, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our PR practice and deepening our presence in the Seattle market.

This is an opportunity for an experienced agency leader to bring an entrepreneurial drive to a nationally recognized B2B marketing agency. You’ll partner closely with our Managing Director, Seattle, to build a high-performing team, strengthen local relationships, and accelerate business growth.

About You:

You bring a growth mindset and a collaborative spirit. You’re passionate about B2B and the challenge of transforming complex ideas into narratives that drive awareness, action, and measurable business outcomes.

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • A leader, networker, and relationship builder. You connect easily with people and build trust that lasts — with clients, media, partners, and employees.
  • Entrepreneurial by nature. You see opportunity everywhere and have a bias toward action. You’re motivated by building something — whether it’s growing a client program, expanding our Seattle market presence, or developing new offerings.
  • An innovator. You stay ahead of industry trends, technology shifts like with AI, and new media innovations. You'll translate these changes into opportunities for clients and the agency.
  • Passionate about B2B storytelling. You bring energy and creativity to uncover how brands make an impact in their industries. You’re skilled at translating technical topics into compelling stories that resonate with audiences and drive business results.
  • Outcome-focused. You think beyond tactics and placement counts, anchoring your work in Walker Sands’ outcome-based marketing philosophy — connecting communications strategy directly to brand awareness, lead generation, revenue growth, and other measurable business objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead high-impact PR programs. Serve as the executive representation on accounts, and develop strategies that drive meaningful visibility and business results for clients across earned, shared, and owned channels.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor. Build strong partnerships with C-level and senior client leaders, offering strategic counsel that aligns with business objectives and fuels long-term growth.
  • Drive business growth. Lead new business opportunities, from prospecting and pitching to scoping and onboarding. Expand existing accounts through strong client partnerships and proactive ideas.
  • Identify and activate new revenue streams through the development of new offerings, expansion into adjacent service areas, and strategic external partnerships.
  • Coach and mentor talent. Manage and inspire a team of PR professionals. Create opportunities for growth, champion professional development, and foster a culture of curiosity and collaboration.
  • Elevate our Seattle presence. Partner with agency leadership to strengthen our regional footprint through networking, community engagement, and brand visibility efforts.
  • Champion innovation. Stay on the pulse of emerging trends in media, AI, and analytics. Bring new tools and approaches that enhance our capabilities and results.
  • Deliver measurable impact. Set clear KPIs and report on business outcomes. Use data-driven insights to optimize programs and demonstrate the value of communications.

Qualifications:

  • 10–15 years of experience leading client accounts in a PR agency, ideally with exposure to integrated marketing programs.
  • Proven success managing complex, high-value PR campaigns across B2B industries. Preferred experience working with enterprise technologies companies across AI, IT, cloud and/or infrastructure.
  • Experience leading and managing teams to create a collaborative and growth-minded work environment.
  • Strong background in business development, including pitching, negotiating, and closing new business opportunities.
  • Deep understanding of today’s media ecosystem — from traditional outlets to podcasts, influencers, social, and emerging platforms.
  • Expertise in crafting strategies that combine earned media with paid, shared and owned amplification.
  • Experience using AI and data tools for media strategy, targeting, and measurement.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills with experience managing and developing teams.
  • A commitment to collaboration, continuous learning, and driving impact through innovation.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • We strive for salary range transparency in our hiring process. This is a major step towards not only complying with regulations where required, but also to make sure pay equity and DEI are top of mind during the hiring process. What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
