Own River’s YouTube video strategy and production pipeline, from idea generation and research through scripting, packaging, editing, and performance optimization. Develop compelling titles, thumbnails, hooks, and stories about Bitcoin and economics; guide hosts and editors; and build repeatable systems for content production and testing. Success is measured through views, retention, click-through rate, and returning viewers.

At River, we are building the world's most trusted financial institution to empower people to take ownership of their financial lives through Bitcoin, the world's only incorruptible digital money. We believe in a future where every person will have bitcoin savings, and every business will have bitcoin on the balance sheet. We obsessively design and build delightful products that help our clients buy, sell, secure, and use Bitcoin.

We are looking for a Video Content Strategist to build River's YouTube channel and video output. You will own what we make and how we package it: sourcing and selecting ideas, writing host-led scripts, and crafting the titles and thumbnails that decide whether our work gets watched. Our audience is people who are navigating the reality that our money is slowly losing its value; your job is to make them trust us enough to hear the answers. The main goal of the channel is not to promote River’s products, it is to create valuable content you would enjoy watching.

You'll report to River's Director of Marketing and work closely with our Host-Producer, the marketing team, and company leadership.

River is growing quickly and has raised more than $50 million from leading investors, including Goldcrest, Kingsway, Polychain, M13, DG, and Valor. We have also released our company's financials publicly, so that all of our clients and employees can verify the robustness and growth of the business themselves.

What you will be doing:
  • Own the video content pipeline. Generate and filter video ideas, sourcing input from across the marketing team and our extensive research.

  • Own packaging of the titles and thumbnails. You'll craft them and test them.

  • Write scripts for medium to long form videos that make money and Bitcoin topics clear, engaging, and impossible to click away from. Some videos will be host-led, others animated.

  • Develop hooks and introductions to retain the audience and provide structure.

  • Ensure the story edit matches the script in structure and pacing.

  • Drive our success metrics on YouTube: view count, retention, and returning-viewer rate, and iterate relentlessly on what the data tells you.

  • Build the systems that let us produce quality content consistently: The idea backlog, filtering process, scripting process, and a testing loop for titles and thumbnails.

What we look for in you:
  • A track record of growing a video channel, your own or one you led. Not just script writing, but ideas and packaging that measurably moved views and retention.

  • An obsession with packaging. You study titles and thumbnails, you have real opinions about why videos win or lose, and you can prove your craft with examples.

  • Exceptional writing and storytelling. You can take a dense economic idea and make a stranger care about it in a single sentence.

  • A strong understanding of the YouTube algorithm, retention curves, and click-through rate.

  • You have a solid understanding of Bitcoin in the economic sense, and what makes it an answer to many of the financial problems the world faces.

  • A strong sense of ownership. You own the idea end to end, you gather input from the team, but the call is yours, and you stand behind the result.

  • You have integrity and know how to present the facts honestly and the brand professionally.

Nice to have:
  • On-camera, interviewing, or hosting experience.

  • A background in finance, economics, or journalism.

Salary and benefits:
  • Annual salary range of $110-165k depending on experience

  • Competitive compensation and equity

  • Unlimited Paid Time Off

  • Parental leave, separate from PTO policy

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance + 401k for US based employees

  • Remote option: You can work from anywhere in the Americas or Europe.

Interview process:
  • Screening interview with River's Director of Marketing (20 mins)

  • First round of interviews (1-hour block with River's Chief Product Officer and a Marketing teammate)

  • Take-home challenge (a paid packaging and scripting exercise)

  • Final round of executive interviews (1-hour block with River's COO and CEO)

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
