Job Description:

The Opportunity:

 This position reports to Director, Voluntary Solutions, and is located in or near a field sales office, depending on the market. The primary objective of this role is to manage new issue benefit communications as directed in their designated territory.  The Voluntary Solutions Manager provides leadership and direction for all benefit communications fulfillment in a defined market to achieve high-level performance, expense management objectives, and high-quality delivery of benefit communications.  

The Voluntary Solutions Manager (VSM) role is a critical sales enablement role supporting 19 EBRs across Pacific Northwest (3), Northern California (5), Southern California (6), and Southwest (5) regions

What you will do:

Benefit Communication Strategy

  • Provides leadership and direction to brokers and clients for all benefit communications, digital and virtual enrollments strategies.
  • Define the enrollment strategy for new issue clients and set expectations for future enrollment events. 
  • Promoting the virtual enrollment capabilities and resources available to Sun Life Clients.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing in support of finalist presentations and serves as a primary interface with Clients and Brokers.  Works to gain the trust and confidence of the broker and policyholder in order to drive enrollment results.
  • Advise on all aspects of benefit communication and enrollment strategies for the Client including:

 - Determine enrollment strategy and what tools and resources will best support the Client

 - Develop a success timeline for Client’s open enrollment

 - Review Benefit administration platform, provide content and marketing materials

-  Manage the expense and resource management for enrollment event

Voluntary Product and SH Market SME

  • Engage Sales Reps, Brokers and Clients in conversations to determine the most effective way to enroll, onboard and administer their employees.
  • Deep working knowledge of the Voluntary products and ability to be a product expert during prospecting calls
  • Early identification of Ben Admin requirements and resourcing for Brokers and Clients with Sun Life's internal teams and resources
  • Working knowledge of the SH claims process and capabilities
  • Lead demos and finalist presentations for Sun Life's digital capabilities  including  Pasito, Virtual Enrollment Meetings, Benefits Explorer, etc ..
  • Identify opportunities within the BIF for Dental/Voluntary cross sales and promotion of the Dental Networks in market.
  • Tech Credit, subsidy and implementation fee management
  • Analyze and adhere to the budget and expenses for managed benefit communications events.

What you will bring with you:

  • Strong organizational skills, accurate and detailed oriented
  • Collaborative workstyle and comfortable navigating across multiple business units including
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to represent Sun Life effectively
  • Ability to manage competing priorities work effectively and independently within time constraints
  • Strong decision making, analytical skills and creative problem-solving capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in alignment with business unit priorities
  • Must be able to travel to the sales offices for meetings and to broker meetings and enrollments in the field.
  • High School degree required; College Degree preferred
  • Bi-lingual skills would be beneficial
  • 3-5 years of employee benefits insurance experience preferred
  • Licensed in Life and Health or ability to obtain a license within 3 months of hire

Your actual base salary will be determined based on your unique skills, qualifications, experience, education, and geographic location. In addition to your base salary, this position is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive award based on your individual performance as well as the overall performance of the business. We are dedicated to creating a work environment where everyone is rewarded for their contributions. National Salary Range:  $73,200 - $109,800
