Own Telescope’s Brands and Agencies growth strategy and revenue performance. The role combines personally closing senior agency and brand-side deals with building the experiential vertical, sales pipeline, team, positioning, pricing, and partnerships. The VP will establish repeatable sales processes, manage forecasts, report market intelligence to executives, and represent the company at major industry events and pitches.

This is a builder's seat: as VP, Business Development, you'll own Telescope's growth strategy and revenue performance across the vertical, as the first dedicated hire in this space. You're not inheriting a playbook, you're writing it. You'll own both the selling and the building, personally closing the deals that matter while standing up the team and pipeline that turn early wins into a scaled, repeatable business. If you want a senior sales leadership role where the ceiling is set by you, not by someone else's org chart, this is it.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead from the front: prospect, pitch, and close senior relationships with experiential agencies and brand-side marketing leaders, personally.
  • Own the revenue strategy, forecast, and execution for the entire Brands and Agencies vertical.
  • Build the experiential vertical from the ground up, backed by the wider BD org, and grow a professional, agency-focused sales team around you as you scale.
  • Shape positioning, packaging, and pricing alongside Product and Marketing.
  • Represent Telescope at the senior level, industry events, strategic partnerships, and the pitches that matter most.
  • Report to the executive team on pipeline, forecast, and market intelligence with real rigor.
Why Telescope
  • A proven product, blue-chip client credentials, and a clear runway into a substantial adjacent market.
  • Startup energy and autonomy within your vertical, backed by the pedigree and resources of a business with 25 years in the market, and now the added weight of a public company behind you.
  • The rare chance to build a new vertical from an early-success foundation, not from zero, and not from someone else's ceiling.
  • Base salary: $185,000–$225,000, plus uncapped commission of 7–10% of revenue generated, on-target earnings around $300,000, with real, uncapped upside for anyone who outperforms. If you're used to hitting your number, there's no ceiling here stopping you from beating it.
  • A senior seat at the table, shaping what this vertical becomes next.

Qualifications Experience Preferred 10+ years in senior business development or sales leadership, selling directly into experiential agencies and brand marketing teams. A track record of personally carrying and beating a revenue number. A genuine, active network across experiential agencies and brand-side decision makers. Not a LinkedIn list but real relationships. Experience selling integrated tech-plus-service solutions, not pure SaaS. Comfort operating without a fully built sales infrastructure, and the instinct to build one. Sharp commercial judgment on deal structure, pricing, and margin. Equal Opportunity Employer

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
