JOB TITLE: Web Designer

REPORTS TO: Director of Operations / Creative Director

SCOPE OF POSITION: This is a contract position within the Accordus team. This team member will fill critical functions for Accordus clients by building, maintaining and editing their Wordpress or Squarespace websites on an as needed basis. This role may be 5-15 hours per week depending on the need and your desired hours.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1+ years of experience in web design
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Deep understanding of the WordPress core, themes, and plugins
  • Knowledge of responsive design, SEO best practices, and website security
  • Comfortability creating content for non-profit and/or faith-based organizations
  • Must have Website Design experience (we are looking for a website designer, NOT developer)
  • Strong proficiency in Squarespace and/or WordPress (Elementor, WPBakery, or similar builders a plus)
  • Strong understanding of layout, typography, color, and responsive design principles
  • Experience working from brand guidelines or design files (Figma, Adobe XD, etc.)
  • Understanding of UX principles and conversion-focused design
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and build websites in Squarespace and WordPress based on client brand guidelines and project requirements
  • Translate wireframes, mockups, and creative direction into fully functional websites
  • Maintain and update existing client websites (content edits, layout adjustments, plugin updates, etc.)
  • Ensure all websites are responsive and optimized for mobile, tablet, and desktop
  • Collaborate with graphic designers to ensure visual consistency and brand alignment
  • Implement basic on-page SEO best practices (structure, headings, metadata, image optimization)
  • Troubleshoot and resolve design or layout issues across browsers and devices
  • Work within project timelines while maintaining high-quality standards
  • Communicate clearly with internal teams regarding progress, blockers, and revisions
