As a Workday/People Systems Architect, you’ll shape how almost 2000 employees experience Workday across the globe, making processes seamless, data reliable, and strategy scalable.

You’ll take ownership of Workday Benefits, Advanced Compensation, and Talent, from design and configuration to operations and expansion. Whether it’s running a flawless Open Enrollment, architecting a global compensation cycle, or rolling out talent modules that shape the next generation of leaders, your work will power the employee experience at every stage.

Key responsibilities

  • Be the expert: Serve as the SME and hands-on configurator for Benefits, Advanced Compensation, and Talent
  • Lead  moments that matter: Own end-to-end Open Enrollment, ACA reporting/filing, and merit/bonus/equity cycles
  • Go global: Drive the expansion of Benefits and Talent across new regions, modules, and programs (performance, goals, succession, skills)
  • Engineer smart systems: Build and maintain eligibility rules, calculated fields, business processes, validations, and security frameworks
  • Connect the dots: Oversee integrations (Cloud Connect for Benefits/EDI, EIB/Core Connectors/Studio) and deliver reporting/dashboards that matter
  • Stay ahead of the curve: Review Workday releases, assess impact, run regression testing, and drive adoption
  • Be a trusted partner: Collaborate with Total Rewards, HR, Payroll, Finance, and IT to manage intake, SLAs, and cross-functional workflows
  • Protect what matters: Ensure compliance, audit readiness, and data integrity
  • Make work easier: Streamline processes, reduce manual effort, and track KPIs to improve efficiency and employee experience
The Team You'll Work With

You’ll be part of the People Systems within the People Product team, a team dedicated to building the future of work at Carta. We design and scale workflows, processes, and systems that support a global workforce, always with an eye on efficiency, data quality, and driving employee performance and experience.

This role partners deeply with the broader People Ops team, Total Rewards, HRBPs, Payroll, and Finance to ensure Workday isn’t just running, but running brilliantly. 

Workday People Systems Lead will own global configuration and optimization of Time Tracking, Absence Management, and Payroll functionality in Workday. You will ensure our systems are compliant, efficient, and regionally adapted — beginning with the US and expanding across EMEA and LATAM.You’ll lead full-cycle implementation, administration, and scaling for timecards, paid time off, leave types, overtime rules, and payroll input workflows that ensure pay is timely, accurate, and legally compliant.

About You
  • 8+ years of hands-on Workday configuration experience
  • Strong domain expertise in Workday Benefits, Advanced Compensation and Talent setup
  • Familiar with Benefit integrations
  • Proven experience designing Benefits, Advanced Compensation and Talent programs across multiple legal entities
  • Detail-oriented with a systems-focused mindset — always thinking about edge cases and risk
  • Nice to Have:
    • Experience with integrations 
      • Benefits: Core Connector and EIB setup
      • Lattice

Salary

Carta’s compensation package includes a market competitive salary, equity for all full time roles, exceptional benefits, and, for applicable roles, commissions plans. Our minimum cash compensation (salary) range for this role is: 
 $161,500 - $190,000 in New York and San Francisco
 $153,425 -$180,500 in Seattle

Final offers may vary from the amount listed based on geography, candidate experience and expertise, and other factors.
