Keller Postman represents a broad array of clients in class and mass actions, individual arbitrations, and multidistrict litigation matters at the trial and appellate levels in federal and state courts. Serving hundreds of thousands of clients in litigation and arbitration, we have prosecuted high-profile mass tort, antitrust, privacy, product liability, employment, and consumer-rights cases. Our firm also acts as plaintiffs’ counsel in high-stakes public-enforcement actions. Our mission is to achieve exceptional results for our clients, drive innovation in the practice of law, and pursue unparalleled excellence in everything we do.

Purpose: Keller Postman seeks a diligent, detail-oriented, and collaborative Workup and Settlement Attorney to work closely with our case management team to work up cases eligible, or soon to be eligible, for settlements in large mass torts. This role focuses on managing decision points for case progression, preparing cases for settlement, guiding clients through the offer process, and collaborating with legal assistants and other team members. This attorney will also participate in the elevation rotation on a regular basis.

The annual salary range for this full-time, remote position is $100,000 to $120,000 per year, depending on experience; plus the role is eligible for a year-end discretionary performance bonus and benefits. Please note this is a non-Partner-track position.

Essential Functions:

  • Case Oversight and Management: Collaborate closely with our case management team to work up settlement-eligible clients, evaluating decision points such as reviewing notes, medical records, and related documentation to determine case progression.
  • Client Offer Process: Manage client interactions during the offer process for settlement offers generated by the case management team, ensuring clear communication and support throughout.
  • Collaborative Team Leadership: Coordinate with Case Managers, legal assistants, and other team members to execute casework efficiently and effectively.
  • On-Call Duties: Serve as the on-call attorney as part of the elevation rotation once every 1-2 weeks.
  • Communication: Interact with clients, outside counsel, experts, and vendors as necessary to support case resolution.
  • Process Improvement: Contribute to refining the firm’s settlement processes to ensure efficiency and consistency. Work closely with Partners and Associates on specific tasks related to assigned cases.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Openness to learn and perform unconventional, heterogeneous legal work that requires intensive interaction with clients and non-lawyer colleagues. This is not a conventional litigation role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook and Word, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent time-management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to maintain a good temperament and demonstrate empathy when dealing with clients in stressful situations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion and good judgment.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently or as part of a team.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Salesforce (ideally) or other CRM or case management software.
  • Experience reviewing medical records and familiarity with medical terminology--especially for cancers and related conditions.

Education/Experience:

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
  • Three to five years of experience in a high volume PI or Plaintiff’s firm.

Certificates/Licenses Required:

  • Must be an active member of a US State Bar and in good standing.

Language Ability:

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English.

Physical Demands:

  • This job requires remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
