It was quite a busy week for tech developments in the Puget Sound, with companies pulling in loads of fresh capital and making other growth moves. From a new several billion-dollar valuation to a new acquisition, catch up on the latest tech news with the Built In Seattle Weekly Refresh.

Anduril pulled in $1.48B. The defense tech company has reached a valuation of $8.48 billion following its latest funding round. Investors including Valor Equity Partners and a16z contributed to the round, which will help Anduril further its autonomous solutions like surveillance drones. While headquartered in LA, Anduril is currently hiring for several positions based in its Seattle office. [Built In Seattle]

First Mode partnered with Anglo American. Joining forces with mining company Anglo American, First Mode is furthering the two’s combined work on a hydrogen-powered hauling solution. The tech will retrofit haul trucks with hybrid powerplants as the newly conjoined company aims to lessen CO2 emissions in heavy industries. The deal is expected to close in January. The move allows Give InKind to operate as its own brand while benefitting from Wolfe’s resources and network. Cabana raised $3M. Offering a fleet of high-tech camper vans, Cabana is expanding its footprint in the mobile hospitality space. The company currently operates in markets like San Francisco, California and Austin with plans to expand into other cities across the U.S. The announcement comes alongside the Cabana’s unveiling of its newly redesigned two-person camper van.
