Strategists apply political research, data, and tools to provide actionable guidance to Democratic campaigns and progressive organizations. They build trusted relationships with candidates and senior staff, address ambiguous needs proactively, operate in fast-changing election environments, present recommendations, and help improve tools for the 2028 election cycle. The role may be full-time, part-time, contract, project-based, or a short-term fellowship.

Note: We are currently collecting resumes for this role; hiring will happen on a rolling basis and begin in earnest in November and December. Details of role may be revised when hiring begins.

Blue Rose Research helps Democrats win elections and advance progressive causes. We work with campaigns in battleground races up and down the ballot and major Democratic, progressive, and advocacy organizations across the country to produce the research and build the tools they use to decide what to say and where to spend.

We produce opinion research at a scale unmatched in politics, put it directly in decision-makers’ hands, and build tools on top of that data that we distribute widely across the progressive ecosystem. You’ll be joining a team of decorated engineers, data scientists, and political analysts who have quietly helped shape how the progressive ecosystem communicates for years.

Blue Rose provides tools and data to all Democratic campaigns; many campaigns are looking for a thought partner who knows how to leverage them. As the 2028 presidential election approaches, we're building out a bench of strategists to support our work with the many campaigns and organizations shaping the primaries and the general that follows. We're looking for a range of skills and backgrounds, but generally want people who are highly proactive, execution-driven, fluent in campaigns and elections, excited to learn, and effective with all levels of campaign stakeholders from junior field organizers to political directors.

This posting is closer to a resume drop than a single job description, and we expect the function, structure, and duration of the role to shift based on the candidate. The role could be full time through the duration of the 2028 cycle, a short-term fellowship, part time, or on a project-basis. We're not looking to keep anyone from ultimately joining a campaign if that's where the work leads, and we expect needs will vary.

In this role, you will:

  • Apply Blue Rose's data and tools to turn findings into guidance a non-technical audience can act on
  • Determine what a campaign needs, and build credibility quickly with candidates, clients, and senior staff
  • Take on ambiguous, open-ended work without waiting to be told what's needed
  • Operate in a fast-moving environment where plans change often and answers are needed quickly
  • Provide feedback on Blue Rose’s tools and help refine our offerings for 2028

Example backgrounds that could be a fit:

  • A comms staffer who has run message discipline or rapid response through a competitive statewide or federal race
  • A paid media or digital lead who has managed a significant budget for a campaign, party committee, or PAC, and can incorporate testing results into a media plan
  • A campaign operative with relationships across the Democratic consultant, vendor, and staffer ecosystem
  • A researcher or analyst who has turned data into recommendations that a principal or client acted on

Qualified candidates ideally have:

  • Multiple election cycles of experience in Democratic politics across campaigns, party committees, or political consultancies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, and experience delivering presentations to principals and senior staff that shape what a campaign decides to do
  • Strong political instincts and bias towards action to go above and beyond a campaign’s needs
  • Comfort picking up new tools and new data quickly, without needing a technical background
  • Kindness, humility, and a collaborative spirit

The example backgrounds are non-exhaustive, and we don't expect every applicant to have expertise in every area listed above. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't sound like a perfect fit.

Candidates must be authorized to work lawfully in the United States.

Salary range: Because the format of this role is flexible, compensation will be set based on role, duration, and experience. Expected range for part-time/contract roles is $5,000 - $20,000/month, full time $150,000 - $250,000/annual commensurate with experience. The role could be full time through the duration of the 2028 cycle, a short-term 3-6 month fellowship, part time, or on a project-basis depending on individual needs and we are open to re-assessing over time.

Benefits: We offer medical, dental, vision, 401k match, 20 weeks paid parental leave, fertility and family-building support through Maven Clinic, and unlimited PTO. These benefits are available for all full-time hires.

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
