Job Summary:

The Customer Success Team is focused on helping SmithRx’s clients derive the full value of their PBM services. We build and manage effective relationships with our customers’ operational leadership, communicating the value of our services in the context of customers’ business goals with the goal of retaining high performing, satisfied customers. We identify risks to client satisfaction proactively and collaborate across product and operational lines to tenaciously pursue solutions and advocate for our clients.

As a SmithRx Account Executive, you will be the primary strategic partner for our clients (employers, health plans, or TPA groups). You aren't just a "point of contact"; you are a healthcare consultant responsible for managing a book of business, driving client retention, and identifying opportunities to optimize pharmacy spend while improving member outcomes. You will bring strong industry and PBM knowledge and serve as a trusted advisor and business partner for your client’s operational leadership.

  • Accountable for client satisfaction
  • Lead internal teams and act as internal client advocate
  • Provide executive updates on client status and risks.

  • Create and maintain a client strategic action plan.
  • Partner with clinical pharmacists to present formulary changes and clinical program recommendations to clients.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends, including drug pipelines, legislative changes, and competitive PBM landscapes.
  • Partner with leadership to review deliverables (QBR’s, reporting and client communications) to ensure "executive-ready" quality.
  • Coordinate with internal teams (Implementation, Operations, and Pricing) to resolve member issues and ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Serve as a formal or informal mentor to Account Managers (AMs), Account Specialists, and Account Coordinators; provide guidance on client communication strategies, career development, and navigating complex PBM workflows.
  • Responsible for understanding the Client's organization & structure, knowing the Client's product/services and staying aware of Client news and changes. Maintain and update Client record with changes.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships in liaison role with Pharmacy Operations, service partner contacts and client contacts.
  • Ensure full, proactive communication of all important client account activities with cross-functional partners
  • Prioritize issues and assess escalations that may lead to client attrition risk with the Account Managers to ensure a strong mitigation plan is in place
  • Travel required: Up to 25%

What you will bring to SmithRx:

  • Executive-level communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively navigate and mediate conflict and foster honest dialogue
  • Experience in Client relationship management ensuring expectations and deliverables are documented and met, key stakeholders are informed, and client satisfaction is achieved
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of an extended, cross-functional team
  • Self-driven, results-oriented and disciplined work ethic
