Blackpoint Cyber is the leading provider of world-class cybersecurity threat hunting, detection and remediation technology. Founded by former National Security Agency (NSA) cyber operations experts who applied their learnings to bring national security-grade technology solutions to commercial customers around the world, Blackpoint Cyber is in hyper-growth mode,  fueled by a recent $190m series C round.

SUMMARY

Join a new engineering team built under the SVP, Engineering & AI/ML to accelerate Blackpoint Cyber's ML/AI capability. As a Software Engineer on this team, you'll build back-end systems and data pipelines within established architecture, working cross-functionally and growing your applied ML and Generative AI skills under the SVP's direct mentorship.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build and maintain back-end services (Python, Node.js/Go) on Kubernetes within established architectural patterns.

  • Contribute to GenAI workflows

  • Contribute to data pipelines supporting AI/ML workflows, exercising judgment within defined engineering practices.

  • Build and consume APIs (REST, GraphQL, or gRPC) for secure, scalable services.

  • Collaborate with senior engineers on design decisions; take on new assignments with general guidance rather than owning architecture calls solo.

  • Participate in code review and cross-functional project work under senior engineer or team lead direction.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 3-5 years of back-end software engineering experience.

  • Python required. Familiarity with TypeScript and/or Java.

  • Experience with microservices on Kubernetes.

  • Solid understanding of database design across SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB).

  • Working knowledge of ML/AI concepts and workflows — we're open to strong back-end engineers earlier in their ML journey, with growth in this area actively supported through direct mentorship from the SVP, Engineering & AI/ML.

  • Understanding of back-end security fundamentals (API security, auth/authz basics).

  • Comfortable in an Agile environment.

NICE TO HAVE

  • Cloud infrastructure (AWS); data streaming basics (Kafka, Spark).

  • Exposure to LLM/agentic AI tooling.

  • Cybersecurity, IoT, or NLP domain experience (not required).

Blackpoint Cyber welcomes and encourages applications from qualified individuals of all races, colors, religions, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, marital status, or any other legally protected status. We are committed to equality of opportunity in all aspects of employment.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
