We’re looking for an Art Director to elevate and scale our creative output across internal communications and learning experiences. In this role, you will set a clear creative vision and visual direction, uphold brand and design standards, and partner closely with stakeholders and creative teammates to deliver best-in-class work from early concept through final launch. You will also independently lead end-to-end creative projects, owning the process from ideation and concept development through design, production, iteration, and final delivery, bringing structure to ambiguity and driving work forward with speed and high craft.

This role is ideal for an Art Director who is fast, agile, and experimental, with strong judgment and taste, and who can quickly learn and apply new tools (especially AI tools) to AI-native creative workflows, while still maintaining deep craft proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and other standard creative software.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter, excellent communicator, and detail-oriented systems-thinker who has a deep understanding of creative operations and understands how to create at-scale. They should have the communication skills to partner with XFN teams to drive work from inception to production in a rapid-paced environment of constant change.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8+ years of experience in Art Direction (in-house or agency), with a portfolio showing strong concepting, craft, and visual storytelling across mediums and styles.

  • Demonstrated ability to set visual direction and guide others to successful execution (critiques, steers, reviews, quality control), while also owning E2E creative projects.

  • Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign; plus After Effects/Premiere as needed for your project mix) and fluency with modern design tooling (e.g., Figma).

  • Proven ability to work in fast-paced, iterative environments, managing multiple projects and shifting priorities.

  • Demonstrated experience adopting and applying AI tools in real creative production workflows with strong judgment about when to use AI vs. traditional craft.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills—able to explain design rationale, influence decisions, and build alignment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience building or evolving lightweight visual systems (templates, toolkits, modular assets) that scale quality across a team.

  • Comfort working at different altitudes, from hands-on making to higher-level directional support, depending on project needs.

KEY SKILLS

  • Creative vision + craft: strong taste, ability to stay on top of creative trends, eye for composition, typography, color, and systems thinking; consistent quality bar.

  • AI agility: curious, experimental, and quick to learn; uses new tools to increase velocity and expand possibilities while protecting quality and standards.

  • Technical Expertise: professional quality NLE video editing, graphics creation, audio editing, copywriting, script writing

  • Operational excellence: organized file management, naming conventions, versioning discipline, and clean handoffs.

  • Collaboration: open to feedback and iteration; gives clear, kind, actionable direction; strengthens team output.

  • Ownership: self-starter who can run projects independently and reliably drive work to ship.

Salary Range

  • 100,000 - 120,000 USD Yearly.

Work Location

  • USA, Remote.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
