The simple task of buying software, services, or tools at work has become hopelessly complicated at even the most innovative companies in the world. Today, enterprises spend $120T+ per year globally (>30 times larger than annual consumer e-commerce spend) and rely on vendors more than ever before to run their businesses.

Our cofounders started Zip in 2020 to address this seemingly intractable problem with a purpose-built procurement platform that provides a simple, consumer-grade user experience. Within the last 4 years, Zip has created a new category and developed the leading solution in this $50B+ TAM space. Today, the world’s leading companies like OpenAI, Snowflake, Anthropic, Coinbase, and Prudential rely on Zip to manage billions of dollars in spend.

We have a world-class team coming from category-defining companies like Airbnb, Meta, Stripe, Salesforce, Apple, and Google. With a $2.2 billion valuation and $370 million in funding from Y Combinator, Tiger Global, BOND, DST Global, and CRV, we’re focused on developing cutting-edge technology, expanding into new global markets, and—above all–driving incredible value for our customers. Join us!

** We are open to hiring this person in our San Francisco or New York offices, as well as remote in the US. **

Zip is seeking a strategic, data-driven AI Search & SEO Manager to lead our evolution from traditional search optimization to a future-forward model that includes generative and conversational AI discovery. This role is equal parts builder and innovator, responsible for scaling our organic visibility across Google, LinkedIn, Perplexity, ChatGPT, and beyond.

You’ll shape Zip’s SEO + AIO roadmap, work closely with content, product marketing, and web development teams, and bring creative strategies to life that drive qualified pipeline and brand authority.

What You’ll Do

  • Own and evolve Zip’s organic search strategy, including traditional SEO and AI-powered discovery

  • Build and prioritize a quarterly SEO + AIO roadmap across site structure, internal linking, schema, Core Web Vitals, and semantic search

  • Lead keyword, intent, and entity analysis, partnering with our content team to develop high-impact content briefs

  • Develop strategies to increase Zip’s visibility across AI platforms (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity)

  • Drive initiatives to produce engaging SEO and AIO-optimized content across Zip’s owned channels

  • Collaborate with marketing, design, and product teams to optimize campaign landing pages and blog content

  • Monitor search performance and report on rankings, traffic, and conversions using tools like GA4, GSC, and Looker

  • Stay ahead of trends in AI search behavior, algorithmic shifts, and evolving SERP features

  • Experiment with tools and frameworks to optimize Zip’s content for LLMs, semantic relevance, and conversational prompts

What You’ll Bring

  • 5 years of experience in SEO, content optimization, or technical marketing

  • Deep understanding of on-page, off-page, and technical SEO best practices

  • Familiarity with emerging AI platforms and their role in shaping discovery (e.g., optimizing for LLM-generated results)

  • Strong proficiency in SEO tools like Google Search Console, GA4, Ahrefs, or Semrush

  • Ability to derive insights from data and translate them into clear, actionable recommendations

  • Cross-functional collaboration skills with content, design, and engineering teams

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience optimizing for AI-first discovery engines

  • Familiarity with natural language processing, semantic search, and schema-driven content

  • Knowledge of prompt engineering or LLM training concepts

The base salary range for this role is $120,000-$140,000, depending on experience and location. In addition to base pay, Zip offers equity, comprehensive benefits, paid time off, and flexible hybrid work.

We're looking to hire Zipsters and that means hiring people who take ownership, communicate openly, have an underdog mindset, and are excited to increase the pace of innovation for every business in the world. We encourage all candidates to apply even if your experience doesn't exactly match up to our job description.
