About College Board

College Board is a mission-driven, not-for-profit organization that aims to clear a path for all students to own their futures. We focus on expanding access to higher education and helping students develop the skills they need for college and career readiness. We serve 7 million students annually– a reach unparalleled in a fragmented sector.

At a moment when AI is transforming education and work, College Board is investing in work-based learning as a critical pathway for students to build durable skills — collaboration, communication, and problem solving — that technology cannot replace.

College Board acquired District C and its flagship program, Teamship, its first programmatic acquisition in over 20 years (learn more here). This acquisition reflects College Board’s commitment to exploring bold ideas that bridge K–12, higher education, and career, complementing time-tested programs like AP and SAT.

We are building a team to scale the Teamship program so more students have access to high-quality work-based learning.

About Teamship

Teamship is a work-based learning program where teams of students solve real problems for real businesses. Teamship provides a high-impact reimagined internship experience that builds the durable skills students need, employers value, and that power today's economy. Key offerings of the program:

  • Hands-on learning with employers and experiences that build the skills technology can’t replace
  • World-class professional learning to support educators
  • Employer partnership model that makes it simpler to engage with high schools
  • Better access for more students with program delivery through schools

To learn more, listen to an interview with the Co-founder and Teamship team leader, Dan Gonzalez, on The Education Equation podcast with College Board President, Jeremy Singer (recorded before the acquisition).

About the Opportunity

As we grow, we are building a dynamic and mission-aligned team to help us expand our network of business partners, the amazing companies and individuals who volunteer five hours to provide valuable work-based learning experiences to students and pose a real business problem for them to solve.

We’re looking for an Associate Director, Business Partnerships to join our growing team. You’ll own the end-to-end process of recruiting, engaging, and supporting business partners and ensuring 100% match rate and delivery of this program, while evolving the systems that will drive quality and efficiency at scale.

In this role, you will:

Build and convert a strong business partner pipeline (40%)

  • Build and manage a pipeline of prospective business partners aligned to Teamship’s program needs
  • Recruit and convert partners from initial outreach through confirmed participation using clear, compelling messaging
  • Build trust and excitement with diverse business leaders so partners are motivated, prepared, and eager to participate
  • Drive timely, professional communication that keeps momentum high and reduces friction throughout the process

Deliver high-quality matches between businesses and programs (50%)

  • Create strong matches between business partners and Teamship programs that result in high-quality experiences for students and ensures every spot is filled prior to program launch
  • Ensure partners are onboarded, scheduled, and supported to enable smooth program delivery and a positive experience for all stakeholders
  • Work with businesses to scope challenges for student teams, ensuring clarity and authenticity
  • Maintain accurate systems, tools, and workflows to keep matching organized, efficient, and scalable as volume grows

Strengthen operations and support the program’s scalability (10%)

  • Support improvements to systems, workflows, and resources that increase efficiency and impact
  • Surface insights from partner engagement that help improve outreach and stakeholder experiences
  • Contribute as a reliable, proactive teammate in a fast-moving environment, stepping in where needed to support iterations and strong program delivery

About You

We’re looking for someone who takes ownership, moves work forward with urgency, and enjoys figuring things out. This role is a good fit if you love working with people, thrive on staying organized amid ambiguity, and take real satisfaction in seeing things through to completion.

How You Operate

  • You have a get-it-done mindset and strong sense of ownership; when something needs to happen, you take responsibility for driving it forward from start to finish.
  • You bring a bias toward action, urgency, and results, with the ability to stay calm and focused when outcomes depend on factors outside your direct control.
  • You enjoy fast-paced, ambiguous environments and can flexibly reprioritize to adjust as needs evolve.
  • You have strong organizational and project management skills, including follow-through, clear communication, and proactive coordination.
  • You get satisfaction from checking items off the list.

How You Communicate

  • You have a natural ability to connect with people and move them into action, engaging a wide range of audiences from small businesses to senior leaders to educators.
  • You build trust quickly, communicate clearly, and know how to tailor your message to the audience in real time.
  • You’re confident talking to new people and energized by external outreach, with excitement about serving as an ambassador for Teamship and its mission.

How You Problem Solve

  • You bring a creative, solutions-oriented approach to problem solving and enjoy finding another path when the obvious one is blocked.
  • You’re intrinsically motivated by solving the puzzle, making the right match, and seeing meaningful outcomes through, even when the work gets complex or barriers pop up.
  • You can think strategically about what needs to happen next while also executing at the task level, rolling up your sleeves and pitching in when needed.

How You Like to Work

  • You have a deep belief in young people, a strong connection to student impact, and genuine excitement about work that expands educational access and opportunity.
  • You enjoy being in a supportive environment that celebrates wins and values genuine collaboration.
  • You work well in a remote (or hybrid) environment, and you’re willing to travel on behalf of College Board three to five times per year.

All roles at College Board require:

  • A passion for expanding educational and career opportunities and mission-driven work
  • Curiosity and enthusiasm for emerging technologies, with a willingness to experiment with and adopt new AI-driven solutions and comfort with learning and applying new digital tools independently and proactively.
  • Clear and concise communication skills, written and verbal
  • A learner's mindset and a commitment to growth: welcoming diverse perspectives, giving and receiving timely, respectful feedback, and continuously improving through iterative learning and user input.
  • A drive for impact and excellence: solving complex problems, making data-informed decisions, prioritizing what matters most, and continuously improving through learning, user input, and external benchmarking.
  • A collaborative and empathetic approach: working across differences, fostering trust, and contributing to a culture of shared success
  • Authorization to work in the United States

About Our Process

  • Application review will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. This role is expected to accept applications for a minimum of 5 business days.
  • While the hiring process may vary, it generally includes: resume and application submission, recruiter phone/video screen, hiring manager interview, performance exercise such as live coding, a panel interview, a conversation with leadership and reference checks.

What We Offer

At College Board, we offer more than a paycheck: we provide a meaningful career, a supportive team, and a comprehensive package designed to help you thrive. We’re a self-sustaining nonprofit that believes in fair and competitive compensation grounded in your qualifications, experience, impact, and the market.

A Thoughtful Approach to Compensation

  • The hiring range for this role is $56,000 - $95,000
  • Your exact salary will depend on your location, experience, and how your background compares to others in similar roles at the College Board.
  • We aim to make our best offer upfront, rooted in fairness, transparency, and market data.
  • We adjust salaries by location to ensure fairness, no matter where you live.

You’ll have open, transparent conversations about compensation, benefits, and what it’s like to work at College Board throughout your hiring process. Check out our careers page for more.

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
