Hi, we're Oscar. We're hiring an Associate Director, Insurance Product Employer Subsidized & Emerging Solutions to join our Insurance Product Development team.

Oscar is the first health insurance company built around a full stack technology platform and a relentless focus on serving our members. We started Oscar in 2012 to create the kind of health insurance company we would want for ourselves—one that behaves like a doctor in the family.

About the role:

The Associate Director, Insurance Product, Employer Subsidized and Emerging Solutions will support the strategy development and scaling of employer subsidized (ICHRA) and adjacent growth-oriented health insurance solutions across Oscar's broader product portfolio.

This role is responsible for translating enterprise, subsidiary, and market level strategies into actionable product concepts, ensuring alignment with core ACA offerings, while driving end-to-end product lifecycle execution through launch and performance optimization.

You will report into the Vice President, Insurance Product Innovation and Development.

Work Location: This is a remote / work-from-home role. You must reside in one of the following states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, or Virginia. Note, this list of states is subject to change. #LI-Remote

Pay Transparency: The base pay for this role in the states of California, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, and Washington is: $180,504- $236,911 per year. The base pay for this role in all other locations is:: $162,453- $213,220 per year. You are also eligible for employee benefits, participation in Oscar's unlimited vacation program company equity grants and annual performance bonuses.

Responsibilities:

  • Product Strategy and Growth
    • Own the development and evolution of the employer-subsidized product strategy, including target segments, value proposition, and market expansion roadmap in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders, including Growth, Sales, and ICHRA leadership
    • Lead and contribute to business cases associated with new products, including return on investment assessments to propel growth in membership and profitability, alongside a positive brand experience
    • Identify and assess new growth opportunities across employer-sponsored, individual, and adjacent product spaces
    • Define market-specific right to win strategies, competitive positioning, and expansion priorities
    • Translate enterprise and market-level strategies into relevant product programs and measurable outcomes
    Product Design and Portfolio Integration
    • Partner with peers to translate strategies into scalable, fileable product designs
    • Ensure ICHRA and new solutions align with product architecture, benefit design standards, and member value propositions
    • Promote consistency and reusability through modular product design, avoiding one-off or fragmented solutions
    • Support development of competitive product offerings, informed by market insights, pricing considerations, and member insights
    Cross-Functional Leadership and Alignment
    • Serve as primary connector across key stakeholders including actuarial, network, market leadership, compliance, regulatory affairs, corporate strategy, distribution and growth to drive alignment with competing priorities, ensuring timely decision making and execution orientation
    • Establish measurements, including growth, retention, margin, and market competitiveness with corporate finance
    • Support business case development and oversight of vendor and partner relationships related to new solutions, while ensuring operational processes are in place to mitigate risks
    • Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
    • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 8+ years of experience in healthcare, health insurance, commercial product strategy or commercial insurance product management, directly leading a team of high-functioning contributors
  • Experience working within the ACA marketplace (serving multiple markets), including individual or small group
  • Demonstrated experience leading programs
  • Familiarity with insurance product lifecycle management, including design and execution readiness
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.

Bonus points:

  • MBA, MHA, or other advanced degree
  • Experience with ICHRA, employer-sponsored insurance (small or mid group), or non-traditional health insurance products
  • Exposure to regulatory filings (e.g., PBT, SBC, SOB) and compliance processes
  • Experience developing or scaling new health insurance products or market expansions
  • Familiarity with network strategy, pricing dynamics, and actuarial partnership
