At Wyze, we make smart home technology accessible to everyone. We're known for disrupting markets with high-quality, affordable products - from cameras to lighting to sensors and more. We believe technology should simplify life, not complicate it. We’re a fast-moving, customer-obsessed team driven by curiosity and powered by data.
The Opportunity
Wyze is seeking a senior, business-minded legal generalist to join our legal team as Associate General Counsel. This is a high-impact role for an attorney with strong law firm training and meaningful in-house experience who can operate independently, exercise sound judgment in complex and ambiguous situations, and provide practical guidance across a wide range of commercial, product, consumer, and operational matters.
This role sits at the center of the business. You will partner closely with the General Counsel and cross-functional leaders, help navigate difficult and fast-moving issues, and play a key role in continuing to build the legal function for the company’s next stage of growth. The right candidate will be equally comfortable advising on high-stakes risk questions, influencing senior stakeholders, and rolling up their sleeves to handle the day-to-day work that keeps the business moving.
What You'll Do
- Partner closely with the General Counsel and leaders across the company on a broad range of legal, regulatory, compliance, and risk management matters
- Serve as a legal leader on commercial, consumer, product, and operational matters across the business
- Advise on matters affecting Wyze’s products and services, including consumer protection, privacy, marketing, product, regulatory, IP, employment, governance and related risks
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements, including supply, licensing, AI, SaaS, services, vendor, confidentiality, and other business-critical agreements
- Identify legal issues proactively, and assess, prioritize, and drive practical solutions in a fast-moving environment where many questions do not have clear black-and-white answers
- Deliver practical, business-oriented guidance that enables informed decisions while appropriately managing legal and reputational risk
- Influence and partner effectively across functions and levels, with the judgment, candor and conviction to speak up on important issues
- Build scalable legal support through practical training, templates, tools, and guidance that help the business move faster and operate responsibly
- Manage outside counsel thoughtfully and efficiently with a strong sense of the business’ priorities
- Operate with strong ownership across both strategic and operational work in a lean legal function
What You Bring
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar
- Significant experience as a business attorney, including both strong law firm training and meaningful in-house counseling experience
- Substantial experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial agreements
- Demonstrated experience advising on consumer protection, privacy, and related product or commercial legal issues
- Exceptional business judgment and the ability to assess risk in nuanced, ambiguous, and high-stakes situations
- Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and drive matters to resolution with minimal oversight
- Strong executive presence and the ability to influence and partner effectively with cross-functional stakeholders at all levels
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex legal analysis into clear, practical, business oriented guidance
- High integrity, sound judgment, and a collaborative approach that builds trust and credibility across the organization
- Comfort thriving in a lean, fast-paced environment with broad responsibility
Preferred qualifications
- Experience counseling product, consumer, or commercial teams in a technology company
- Experience supporting hardware, connected device, consumer electronics, or other physical product businesses
- Experience building or improving legal processes, templates, and scalable self-service tools
- Genuine interest in consumer technology and the ways devices, software, and services intersect in the customer experience
