AUTOMATION ENGINEER (STARLINK CUSTOMER SUCCESS)

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today, SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.

At SpaceX, we are leveraging our experience in building rockets and spacecraft to deploy Starlink, the world’s most advanced broadband internet system. Starlink is the world’s largest satellite constellation and is providing fast, reliable internet to 7M+ users worldwide. We design, build, test, and operate all parts of the system – thousands of satellites, consumer receivers that allow users to connect within minutes of unboxing, and the software that brings it all together. We’ve only begun to scratch the surface of Starlink’s potential global impact and are looking for best-in-class engineers and analysts to rapidly accelerate our growth around the globe.

As an Operations Engineer, Automation on the Customer Success team, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and continuously improving both business-critical and experimental automation to unlock customer experience and support bottlenecks within the Starlink network. • Work with engineering and business teams to develop strategies for migrating automation to website-integrated solutions when appropriate
  • Design measurable and well-scoped experiments
  • Write and maintain high-quality documentation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional Customer Success Category leads, workforce planners, and operators to develop automated solutions to solve customer experience and support challenges
  • Engage the SpaceX leadership team with quantitative and qualitative updates on automation performance and opportunities

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering, mathematics, or STEM discipline
  • 1+ years of experience in engineering, software, data analytics, venture capital, management consulting, or operations/product management at a technology company
  • 3+ years of experience with Python

  • Strong project management and self-directed prioritization skills
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences at all organizational levels
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships across disciplines and with multiple levels of management

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be available to work extended hours and weekends as needed
  • Willingness to travel to corporate customer sites, other SpaceX locations, and industry events as needed

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
