The Northeast Region represents over $1 billion in premium and includes key strategic markets with significant broker concentration and executive visibility. This role requires a proven sales leader who can successfully manage established territories while identifying and executing growth opportunities in underpenetrated markets and lines of business.


The AVP will partner closely with underwriting, operations, and executive leadership to drive profitable growth, strengthen distribution relationships, develop talent, and position the region for long-term success.



This position must be based within the Northeast region, with preferred locations including New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or the Greater Philadelphia area. Responsibilities
  • Lead the sales and distribution strategy for the Northeast Region, driving profitable growth across all assigned states and territories.
  • Manage and develop a team of Regional Sales Managers, providing coaching, mentorship, and performance leadership.
  • Build, strengthen, and expand relationships with key agency and broker partners, including large national and regional brokerage firms.
  • Develop and execute strategic growth plans for both mature markets and underpenetrated territories, including Connecticut, Massachusetts, Northern New England, Upstate New York, and select Pennsylvania markets.
  • Drive sales execution while establishing clear regional strategies to increase market share and expand product penetration.
  • Partner with underwriting leadership to align sales initiatives with profitability goals and market opportunities.
  • Maintain strong visibility with executive leadership and represent the organization in high-profile customer, broker, and industry-facing engagements.
  • Analyze sales, agency, market, and production data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and professional development across the sales organization.
  • Ensure Regional Sales Managers have defined performance objectives and development plans aligned with business goals.
  • Provide ongoing updates regarding sales performance, market conditions, competitive intelligence, and distribution opportunities.
  • Remain current on industry trends, market dynamics, and competitor activity.
  • Travel extensively throughout the Northeast Region to support business development and relationship management activities.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of commercial insurance experience with significant exposure to sales, distribution, agency management, and business development.
  • Strong understanding of Workers' Compensation and Commercial Package/Product underwriting, with recent experience leading sales and distribution efforts.
  • Demonstrated success managing and developing sales leaders and high-performing teams.
  • Proven ability to create and execute strategic growth initiatives across multiple markets and distribution channels.
  • Experience working with large national brokers, regional brokers, and independent agency networks.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to build credibility and influence at all organizational levels.
  • Track record of driving profitable growth while balancing production, underwriting, and operational objectives.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, presentation, and relationship management skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, Insurance, or a related field preferred.
  • Professional insurance designations (CPCU, CIC, ARM, or equivalent) are a plus.
  • Must reside within the Northeast Region, preferably in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
  • Ability to travel regularly throughout the region as business needs require.
