The Azure Cloud Engineer II is responsible for delivering proactive, secure, and standardized operational support for customer environments within iT1’s 24x7x365 Managed Services Division. This role administers, monitors, maintains, and optimizes Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, and hybrid infrastructure services with a strong focus on availability, security, automation, performance, resilience, and customer outcomes. The Azure Cloud Engineer II serves as an escalation resource for complex incidents, drives operational improvements, and helps ensure customer environments are governed by documented policies, procedures, and best practices.


Requirements
  • Deliver high-quality operational support for managed Azure, Microsoft 365, and hybrid environments using standardized processes, service delivery best practices, and customer-specific runbooks.
  • Provide advanced technical support for escalated incidents, service requests, and problems while driving timely resolution, root cause analysis, and permanent corrective actions.
  • Proactively monitor the health, availability, capacity, and performance of cloud infrastructure and services, identifying and resolving issues before they create business impact.
  • Administer and support Azure resources including virtual machines, Azure Virtual Desktop, storage, backup, site recovery, networking, identity, and related platform services.
  • Support Microsoft 365 and security-related services including Microsoft Entra ID, Conditional Access, multifactor authentication, role-based access control, endpoint management, and related administrative controls.
  • Implement and maintain monitoring, alerting, patching, backup, recovery, and maintenance processes to improve service reliability, operational maturity, and cyber resilience.
  • Contribute to automation and standardization efforts through scripting, templates, repeatable procedures, and operational runbooks to improve consistency and efficiency.
  • Partner with internal security, service desk, and engineering teams to support vulnerability remediation, security controls, compliance-aligned practices, and change execution.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation for customer environments, procedures, standards, and support models to ensure service consistency and knowledge transfer.
  • Assist with cloud deployments, environment optimization, and lifecycle management activities using approved architectural standards and operational best practices.
  • Identify opportunities to improve security posture, operational efficiency, service performance, and cost optimization across managed customer environments.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and internal stakeholders, translating technical issues and recommendations into clear, actionable guidance aligned to business needs.

Job Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field required; or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience administering and supporting Microsoft Azure in production environments, preferably within a managed services or multi-customer support model.
  • Demonstrated experience with Azure infrastructure, networking, compute, storage, backup, disaster recovery, and identity services.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration and security capabilities, including Microsoft Entra ID, Conditional Access, multifactor authentication, and role-based access control.
  • Experience with monitoring and operational tooling such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, alerting platforms, and service management systems.
  • Experience supporting endpoint, security, and cloud operations technologies such as Intune, Microsoft Defender, Defender for Cloud, or Microsoft Sentinel is preferred.
  • Knowledge of IT service management practices, including incident, problem, change, and request management.
  • Ability to document environments, processes, standards, and technical procedures with a high degree of accuracy and consistency.
  • Experience with scripting or automation using PowerShell, Azure CLI, or similar tools; familiarity with infrastructure as code concepts such as Bicep, ARM, or Terraform is a plus.
  • Ability to assess existing environments, identify risks or improvement opportunities, and make sound recommendations related to availability, security, performance, and cost optimization.
  • Strong client-facing communication skills with the ability to build trust, explain technical concepts clearly, and align recommendations to the needs of technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to manage priorities, execute assigned deliverables with limited oversight, and contribute effectively in a fast-paced, 24x7 managed services environment.
