Our team blends editorial integrity with commercial insight, transforming Yahoo’s first-party data and storytelling capabilities into high-performing go-to-market programs.

About the Role

The Brand Sales Strategist, Yahoo News Group is a pivotal role within the Yahoo Ads organization, responsible for defining, developing, and bringing to market strategic advertising solutions across our core Entertainment, Lifestyle and News verticals. This role balances creative storytelling, data-driven audience insights, and deep commercial media expertise to drive proactive ideation and responsive solutions for top-tier advertising partners.

In this role, you will act as a senior strategic lead, collaborating across Ad Product, Sales, Editorial, and Data Insights to launch market-ready sponsorship packages and bespoke campaign architectures. You will champion modern, AI-augmented workflows to rapidly ideate, model insights, and elevate pitch narrative quality, turning complex platform data into clear commercial value propositions.

Responsibilities:
Market Strategy

  • Build and implement go-to-market strategies spanning editorial sponsorships, high-impact media solutions, branded content, and emerging formats across multiple channels (written, video, shoppable, and immersive).
  • Represent the News Group in responses to RFPs, RFIs, and proactive requests, developing clear, concise, and visually engaging pitch materials that articulate a strong value proposition to clients.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Serve as the connective tissue across Yahoo’s News Group verticals and internal teams (Editorial, Product, and Commerce) to execute integrated programs.
  • Collaborate with Editorial teams to develop new, content-led ad solutions that balance creative integrity with business priorities.
  • Identify market trends, competitive offerings, and emerging technologies that help Editorial and Product partners understand what resonates in the market.
  • Partner closely with Sales to provide exceptional client service from initial pitch through campaign execution, wrap-up, and renewal.

Storytelling & Data

  • Combine creative storytelling instincts with analytical rigor to craft narratives that align ideas with KPIs and measurable outcomes.
  • Understand the audience and engagement data powering the News Group to make insight-backed recommendations for clients.
  • Utilize AI tools to enhance creative output, streamline workflows, and boost overall productivity.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5–7 years of brand strategy, ad solutions, or content marketing experience within a major digital media publisher, agency, or technology platform.
  • Demonstrated track record of conceptualizing and packaging multi-channel digital ad programs (custom content, video, high-impact display, and sponsorship integrations).
  • Hands-on experience working with digital audience analytics platforms (e.g., Comscore) and synthesizing 1st-party audience data into actionable client narratives.
  • Proven ability to independently manage complex strategic proposals from brief to pitch delivery, securing internal buy-in and presenting effectively to senior executives.
  • Demonstrated experience using modern generative AI tools (e.g., Gemini, ChatGPT, or internal LLMs) to streamline research synthesis, creative ideation, or strategic writing.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership skills with a proven history of collaborating successfully with editorial, sales, and product partners.
  • A proactive self-starter with high analytical rigor, a collaborative work style, and a strong commitment to the intersection of content, technology, and advertising.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience a media company or tech platform specifically supporting News, Lifestyle, or Entertainment verticals in an Ad Sales capacity
  • Working knowledge of structured prompting, AI-assisted data analysis, or AI presentation design tooling to enhance proposal speed and visual impact.
  • Familiarity with emerging ad technologies, commerce/affiliate media models, and interactive content formats.
