Leidos is seeking a Chief Software Architect to be the technical lead for the Catena project. This individual will be responsible for driving the design and implementation of a scalable software solution that align with business objectives, customer needs, and emerging technologies. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in cloud technologies, cross-functional collaboration, and enterprise-grade software development across diverse customer environments.

The successful candidate will have a wide range of technical experience including mission software development, secure software practices, software architecture, DevOps, cloud technologies, and software validation. This position requires a technical leader who is ready to both roll up their sleeves to solve hard, interesting problems as well as step back and set a technology vision for delivering a focused, mission-first software product. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Define and maintain the technical architecture vision across multi-tenant software platform and customer portfolios.
  • Work closely with external customers to understand mission objectives, technology constraints, and long-term goals. Translate these into strategic technology roadmap.
  • Guide and mentor development teams, ensuring consistency in development practices and alignment with the technical vision.
  • Lead the creation and maintenance of multi-year technology roadmaps aligned with business and customer strategies.
  • Partner with product owners, engineering leads, and program managers to prioritize capabilities, manage trade-offs, and ensure technical feasibility.
  • Design and oversee cloud-native architecture in AWS focused in serverless technologies for scalability and flexibility.
  • Define and enforce software engineering standards, architectural review processes, and documentation practices across teams.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. and 15 years of experience in a Science, Engineering, or Technology field. Additional years of experience, certifications, or trainings may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • US Citizenship. Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Ability to mentor, lead, and promote talent.
  • Proven success managing software strategy across multiple customers or programs.
  • Ability to translate design and architecture into tasks for software development tasking.
  • Deep experience with AWS cloud platforms and designing scalable, distributed systems.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and DevSecOps practices.
  • Experience interacting with individuals at multiple levels of the organization - from program teams to Business Area leadership.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to influence and align diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience working directly with product owners and managing competing priorities across large teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Agile Development experience.
  • Proven leader across the Software Development Lifecycle.
  • Experience implementing solutions for multiple customers.
  • Experience in event-driven architectures and serverless cloud services.
  • Certifications in cloud architecture (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect).
  • Ability to champion Software standards and best practices.

Pay Range:Pay Range $148,850.00 - $269,075.00
