JOB SUMMARY:

Experienced Epic or Cerner Charge Capture Analyst to support hospitals. This individual will serve as a subject-matter expert in charge-capture workflows, Epic or Cerner system builds, and revenue-integrity processes. The ideal candidate brings a strong combination of technical Epic or Cerner knowledge and effective communication skills with clinical and administrative staff.

  • Process Documentation – Assess, document, and maintain current and future-state charge capture workflows across applicable departments.

  • Epic or Cerner System Build – Direct order set and preference card builds within the Epic or Cerner environment to support accurate and compliant charge capture.

  • Staff Education – Develop and deliver training and education to hospital staff on charge capture changes, workflow updates, and Epic or Cerner functionality.

  • CDM Process Development – Collaborate with Revenue Integrity and coding teams to develop, implement, and refine processes related to changes made to the Charge Description Master (CDM).

  • Cross-functional Collaboration – Partner with clinical, billing, coding, and IT teams to identify charge capture gaps and implement corrective workflows.

  • Compliance Support – Ensure all charge capture processes align with applicable hospital, regulatory and payer requirements.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Required:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience working with Epic or Cerner, with a focus on charge capture, revenue cycle, or related modules

  • Demonstrated experience with order sets and/or preference cards within all revenue-generating departments (ancillary and nursing) in Epic or Cerner

  • Working knowledge of Charge Description Master (CDM) structure and maintenance

  • Strong understanding of hospital billing, CPT/ICD-10 coding concepts, and revenue integrity principles

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to train and present to diverse audiences

  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in remote and on-site environments.

  • Experienced with revenue cycle compliance and charge capture audit processes

Preferred but Not Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Epic and/or Cerner Certification

Regular eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity is required to operate office equipment. The ability to perform work at a computer terminal for 6-8 hours a day and function in an environment with constant interruptions is required. At times, incumbents are subject to sitting for prolonged periods. Infrequently, incumbent must be able to lift and move material weighing up to 20 lbs. Incumbent may experience elevated levels of stress during periods of increased activity and with work entailing multiple deadlines.
