Citrix CVAD / NetScaler SME – Advisor to MSP

(Contract / On-Demand)

GEM Technologies is seeking an experienced Citrix CVAD / NetScaler Subject Matter Expert to assist our engineering team. The ideal candidate has deep, real-world experience designing, deploying, supporting, and troubleshooting Citrix CVAD environments and NetScaler (Citrix ADC) in production environments. 

This is not a full-time help desk or daily support role. Instead, this position is for a senior Citrix expert who can assist our engineers with architecture, troubleshooting complex issues, best practices, and documentation when advanced Citrix expertise is required. 

Responsibilities

• Act as a Citrix escalation point for our internal engineering team 

  • Assist with Citrix CVAD architecture and design 
  • Review and advise on NetScaler (Citrix ADC) configurations 
  • Help troubleshoot complex issues involving: 
  • Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD) 
  • StoreFront 
  • Delivery Controllers 
  • Citrix Workspace / Receiver 
  • Citrix ADC / NetScaler (Gateway, Load Balancing, ICA Proxy) 
  • Profile management 
  • FSLogix 
  • Citrix Cloud 
  • Active Directory integration 
  • Azure / AWS deployments 
  • Provide best practices and documentation so our team can become more self-sufficient 
  • Participate in remote working sessions with our engineers (Teams) 
  • Occasionally assist with after-hours or maintenance window work 

Typical Engagement

• On-demand consultation (remote)
• Estimated 5–15 hours per month
• Occasional scheduled working sessions with our engineering team


Requirements

Candidates must reside in the United States and be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. We are unable to consider candidates requiring visa sponsorship or international contractors for this role.

Required Experience

    • 7+ years working with Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD) 
    • Strong experience with Citrix ADC / NetScaler 
    • Experience with: 
    • StoreFront 
    • Delivery Controllers 
    • Citrix Gateway 
    • Load balancing 
    • SSL certificates 
    • MFA integrations (Duo, Azure MFA, etc.) 
    • Active Directory & Group Policy 
    • Windows Server 
    • VMware / Hyper-V / Azure 
    • FSLogix or Citrix Profile Management 
    • Experience troubleshooting performance issues, logon issues, printing issues, and profile issues 
    • Ability to document solutions and explain decisions to other engineers

Preferred

    • Has worked for a Managed Services Provider or consulting firm 
    • Comfortable being an advisor and teacher, not just a doer 
    • Can quickly diagnose complex Citrix environments 
    • Microsoft Exchange on prem experience 
    • Can work independently and join calls when needed 
    • Strong communication skills 

Benefits

Compensation: $100–$250 per hour depending on experience and certifications. Final rate will depend on experience, certifications, and scope of engagement.
