This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. In this role, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of advanced CNC manufacturing solutions utilizing specialized software interfaces that orchestrate CAM-produced G-code, probing measurement subroutines, and automated tool offset programs to minimize manual intervention during hardware production. Analyze and optimize cycle times, tool paths, and machining parameters to maximize efficiency and quality. Provide technical expertise in recommending tooling upgrades, fixture improvements, and programming enhancements to reduce production downtime. Serves as a critical technical liaison between design engineering and manufacturing suppliers, ensuring design for manufacturability principles are integrated throughout the product lifecycle. Drives systematic cost-reduction initiatives through comprehensive analysis of machining processes, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement in CNC operations.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop advanced machining strategies to efficiently & repeatably produce machined hardware
- Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, CAD models, and CAM programs.
- Cutting tool selection, speeds/feeds, and work-holding methods
- Provide Design for Manufacturing feedback to design teams
- Develop advanced CAM programs & probing subroutines to optimize cycle times, tool paths, and machine utilization.
- Develop, maintain, and configuration manage necessary setup & run documentation
- Communicate with designers, machinist, and other parties involved in manufacturing operations.
- Process improvement (both machining actual inputs and administrative process changes)
- Safely working within an industrial environment
- Provide design input for additively designed components to facilitate efficient machining
- Provide Material sizing & selection inputs
Minimum Qualifications:
- Passion for our mission: Millions of people living and working in space!
- Minimum 10 years of hands-on manufacturing experience.
- Minimum 5 years in CNC programming with NX/UG or Mastercam
- Excellent blueprint reading skills including GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard.
- Experience with Mills/Lathes/Multi Axis Mills and Multi Axis Lathes/VTLs
- Proficiency in fixture design & workholding applications
- Set-up sheet and tool list creation
- Determining & optimization of feeds and speeds
- Cutter selection and if/when needed custom cutter design.
- Design for manufacturing experience
- Excellent communication and project management skills
- Must have Nickel based alloys experience.
- Fluent in use of precision hand tools
- Proficient with modern computer systems and PLM databases
- Individual must be self-motivating to prioritize work to meet project completion dates.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 15+ years of hands-on manufacturing & machining experience.
- 8+ years in CNC programming with NX/UG or Mastercam
- Experience with nickel-based alloys, Superalloys, Copper, Titanium
- Experience with additively designed hardware and castings
- Vericut or other program verification software experience
- Proficiency utilizing macro variable, and probing routines to automate CNC operations
- Expert knowledge of cutting tool selection, speeds/feeds, and work-holding methods
- Ability to support off shifts
- Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts around flight critical hardware.
- CMM programming/operation
- Setup and operate CNC machines.
Compensation Range for:
WA applicants is $38.19-$53.47Other site ranges may differ

Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
