Role Description

We are seeking an experienced and technically proficient Sales Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in the commercial telecommunications industry, with deep expertise in internet services (e.g., Dedicated Internet Access, Broadband, Wireless Internet), a comprehensive understanding of networking solutions (e.g., SD-WAN, VPN, LAN/WAN technologies) and passive optical networks and their deployment. This role is critical in providing technical pre-sales support, designing tailored solutions, and serving as a subject matter expert for our sales force and prospective clients.


In this role, you'll:

  • Technical Pre-Sales Support:
    • Act as the primary technical resource for the sales team, accompanying sales executives on client calls, presentations, and solution demonstrations.
    • Conduct in-depth technical discovery sessions with prospective clients to understand their business needs, current infrastructure, and technical requirements.
    • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and business-oriented language for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Solution Design & Architecture:
    • Design and architect customized internet and networking solutions that address client challenges and align with their strategic objectives.
    • Develop detailed technical proposals, solution diagrams, bills of material (BOMs), and statements of work (SOWs).
    • Collaborate with product development, network operations, and implementation teams to ensure proposed solutions are feasible, scalable, and supportable.
  • Proof of Concept & Demonstrations:
    • Lead and execute technical demonstrations, proof-of-concepts (POCs), and pilot projects to showcase the capabilities and benefits of our solutions.
    • Address technical questions, concerns, and objections from potential clients with confidence and expertise.
  • Subject Matter Expertise & Training:
    • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on our internet and networking service portfolio, staying current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor offerings.
    • Provide technical training and enablement to the sales team on new products, services, and best practices.
    • Participate in industry events, webinars, and conferences to represent the company and gather market intelligence.
  • Post-Sales Handoff:
    • Facilitate a smooth technical transition from sales to post-sales implementation teams, ensuring a clear understanding of the client's requirements and the proposed solution.

At a minimum, we'd like you to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 5 years of experience as a Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, network engineer or a similar pre-sales technical role within the commercial telecommunications industry.
  • Experience with various internet access technologies (e.g., Dedicated Internet Access, Fiber Broadband, Fixed Wireless, Cable Internet) and their underlying infrastructure.
  • Experience with networking concepts and technologies, including but not limited to:
    • SD-WAN (various vendors such as Fortinet, Cisco Meraki, Versa, VMware Velocloud, Silver Peak)
    • MPLS, VPN (IPsec, SSL VPN)
    • Routing Protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)
    • Switching (VLANs, STP, QoS)
    • Firewall technologies (e.g., FortiGate, Cisco ASA/FTD, Palo Alto, Juniper)
    • Cloud Connectivity (Direct Connect, ExpressRoute, Cloud Interconnect)
    • Wireless networking (Wi-Fi 6/7, controllers, access points)
    • Experience with network monitoring and management tools.

It's preferred if you have:

  • Technical Certifications, including:
    • Cisco Certifications (CCNA, CCNP, CCDP)
    • Fortinet NSE, Palo Alto PCNSE
    • CompTIA Network+
    • MEF Certifications (e.g., MEF-CECP)
    • Cloud certifications (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert)
  • Verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Advanced presentation, whiteboarding skills, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Customer-focused with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality solutions and support.
  • Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to travel 10% for client meetings, presentations, and industry events.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $139,200 - $203,300 + bonus + benefits. As pay varies by location, your recruiter will share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.
