Position Overview:
The Compliance Systems QA Analyst supports compliance and regulatory change efforts by validating that loan origination system functionality and related workflows correctly reflect regulatory requirements, internal policies, and business expectations. This role goes beyond executing test scripts and functions as a hands-on tester and problem solver who can interpret regulatory requirements, determine how they should appear in the system, design and execute appropriate tests, and clearly communicate results. The Compliance Systems QA Analyst is responsible for documenting findings, logging questions and exceptions, and working with stakeholders to confirm issues and support practical solutions.

Job Responsibilities:
•    Evaluate loan origination system functionality and workflows to help confirm that regulatory requirements, internal policies, and business rules are accurately reflected in system behavior.
•    Review regulatory requirements and change summaries and determine how those requirements should appear in the LOS, including expected rules, fields, workflows, and outputs.
•    Take ownership of assigned issues by interpreting requirements, defining expected system behavior, validating implementation, and escalating to the Compliance SME or Legal only when requirements are ambiguous, high risk, or involve complex cross functional considerations.
•    Design and execute tests based on regulatory requirements, system design documents, or high-level guidance, not only pre-written test scripts.
•    Run structured test scripts provided by Compliance and expand testing as needed to cover scenarios, edge cases, and related behaviors that may impact compliance.
•    Perform exploratory testing when results are unexpected or incomplete, investigating related issues and adjacent functionality rather than stopping at the first identified defect.
•    Document testing results clearly and thoroughly so reviewers can understand exactly what passed, what failed, and what behavior was observed.
•    Prepare testing work product that includes scenario descriptions, steps taken, screenshots, data used, and clear pass/fail conclusions.
•    Log questions, exceptions, and potential issues that arise during testing and work with Compliance, Legal, Technology, and Operations stakeholders to obtain answers and validate findings.
•    Help recommend next steps or potential solutions for confirmed issues, based on understanding of regulatory requirements and system behavior.
•    Retest impacted areas when configurations change, rules are updated, or annual regulatory updates occur, ensuring prior issues are resolved and new issues are identified.
•    Maintain organized testing evidence, issue logs, and trackers so that testing activities are traceable and audit ready.
•    Communicate testing status, key findings, and open questions in a clear and concise manner to Compliance and project leads.
•    Collaborate with cross-functional partners to clarify expected behavior, understand impact of defects, and support timely remediation.

Qualifications and Skills:
•    Bachelor's degree or equivalent combinations of education, training, professional certifications, and relevant experience.
•    Relevant education, training, certifications, or experience in compliance, mortgage operations, business analysis, legal support, quality assurance, or a related field.
•    Experience in mortgage or loan operations, preferred.
•    Experience in QA/testing, compliance, business analysis, or a similar analytical role in mortgage or financial services, preferred.
•    Experience with loan origination systems, disclosure/document testing, and tools such as Jira or similar tracking systems, preferred.
•    Understanding of how a loan moves through the origination process end-to-end and what is expected both operationally and from a compliance standpoint.
•    Knowledge of mortgage loan operations, including how a loan progresses through application, processing, underwriting, closing, and funding, to help recognize when system behavior does not align with normal operational expectations.
•    Comfortable performing both scripted and exploratory testing, including expanding testing when results appear inconsistent, unexpected, or incomplete.
•    Comfortable collaborating with Compliance, Technology, Operations, Legal, and external partners in a remote/offshore environment.
•    Skilled in reading and interpreting regulatory requirements and compliance guidance and applying mortgage operations knowledge to translate those requirements into expected system behavior and test conditions.
•    Skilled in identifying discrepancies in system behavior, test results, disclosures, documents, and supporting records.
•    Skilled in analyzing and resolving complex issues, determining appropriate testing approaches, asking effective questions, and investigating related findings to ensure thorough evaluation and issue resolution.
•    Excellent communication skills for clearly describing test scenarios, documenting findings, and summarizing issues to support understanding, decision making, and resolution.
•    Excellent organizational skills for managing testing queues, issue logs, tracking tools, and documentation across multiple workstreams.
•    Skilled in working independently on assigned testing and analysis tasks while knowing when to escalate questions, unexpected results, or potential issues.
•    Excellent attention to detail.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
