KLDiscovery brings clarity, trust, and meaning to data for clients navigating legal matters worldwide. Our eDiscovery Technology (EDT) practice is where clients meet advanced analytics and AI in discovery: technology-assisted review and continuous active learning, generative AI review for relevance and privilege, search and analytics strategy, and the custom workflows that turn a hard matter into a defensible, efficient one. Demand for this work is growing fast, and the practice is growing with it.

As a Consultant, eDiscovery Technology, you are the client-facing expert on the team. You scope analytics and AI-assisted review with counsel, design the workflow, lead the matter through execution and validation, and explain the results to the people who have to sign their name to them. You support Advisory and Sales in pursuits, build the playbooks that make the practice repeatable, and mentor the technologists who run the workflows with you. This is applied legal technology consulting. It is not a software engineering role.

What You'll Be Doing

Scope and Lead Matters

  • Consult with clients, counsel, and KLD project managers to understand the matter, the data, the protocol, and the deadline, and recommend the right approach: TAR 1.0, continuous active learning, generative AI relevance or privilege review, structured analytics, or a combination.

  • Lead assigned matters end-to-end: workflow design, set up in Relativity or Nebula, execution with Technologists, validation, and delivery, within SLA.

  • Design and run validation: sampling design, recall and elusion estimates, precision, and the documentation that makes the result defensible.

  • Present findings and validation results to counsel in plain language, and support protocol discussions and, where needed, declarations on methodology.

Generative AI and Analytics Expertise

  • Design and iterate prompts for generative AI relevance and privilege classifiers, measure results, and know when to stop tuning.

  • Apply the AI governance posture on every matter: client data boundaries, client-specific AI restrictions, privilege protections, and audit trail.

  • Participate in pilots of KLD's in-house AI review capabilities and bring practitioner feedback back to the practice and to Product.

  • Stay current on TAR, continuous active learning, generative AI review tools, and structured analytics, and hold a clear view on where each is defensible.

Pre-Sales and Client Education

  • Support Advisory and Sales in pursuits: pre-sales calls, demos, RFP responses, and client education sessions on AI-assisted review.

  • Help define and refine the practice's packaged offerings by bringing matter experience into scope, effort, and pricing assumptions.

Playbooks and Mentoring

  • Build and maintain playbooks, validation templates, prompt libraries, and client-facing result summaries so quality lives in the practice.

  • Mentor technologists: pair on matters, review work, and coach toward the consultant track.

  • Record time accurately and keep matter tracking current so utilization and billing are right.

  • Lead with the four values. Client is Always in the Room. Own the Outcome. Better Every Day. Deliver Results Together.

What You Should Already Have

  • 5+ years in eDiscovery, with 3+ years hands-on applying advanced analytics and AI-assisted review on client matters.

  • Deep working knowledge of TAR 1.0 and 2.0 and continuous active learning, including validation statistics, and hands-on experience with at least one generative AI review tool (Relativity aiR, eDiscovery AI, or equivalent), including prompt design.

  • Working command of Relativity and RelativityOne. Structured analytics experience (Brainspace, Reveal, or similar) a plus.

  • Client-facing experience: you have scoped analytics work with counsel and explained validation results to a non-technical legal audience.

  • Clear, direct written and verbal communication, and the organization to run several matters at once to deadline.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Relativity certifications (RCA, Analytics Specialist), CEDS, or equivalent a plus. Legal background or JD a plus.

  • Eligible to work in the US.

Work Environment

  • Remote, US-based, working US business hours.

  • Deadline-driven work. Matters run to court and production deadlines, so evenings and occasional weekends are part of the job, shared across the team through a coverage schedule.

  • Occasional travel, up to 10%, for client meetings and industry events.

Benefits & Perks

  • Talented, collaborative global team that will push and support you.

  • Market-competitive compensation and performance bonus.

  • Medical, dental, and vision benefits, with company-provided life insurance and short- and long-term disability.

  • Paid time off and 401(k) retirement plan with company match.

  • Training and certification support, including Relativity and generative AI review tools, and a defined career path inside the practice.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
