Verian is an independent research, evidence, evaluation, and communications agency that helps governments solve public policy challenges by working with citizens and the public realm.

We provide services to government and public sector organizations, drawing on expertise in social research, policy development, and communication.

The agency operates globally, with offices across Europe, Asia Pacific, and the US.

About the role

Data processing analyst

· Remote (EU) · 12-month service contract, with intention to extend

Why this role is different

Verian runs some of the largest and most complex survey programmes in Europe - for EU institutions, national governments of the UK and EU Member States, national statistical offices, and other national and regional public bodies. The data outputs you help produce will directly inform public policy decisions across the continent.

The core of the role is the craft itself: producing accurate, high-quality data outputs in a fast-paced delivery environment where attention to detail matters every day. At the same time, Verian is investing heavily in automation, coding and AI-assisted approaches to data processing, and you will be part of that journey from the start - learning Python, R and AI-assisted techniques alongside the engineers and senior analysts building these solutions.

What you will do

  • Support the processing, validation and quality assurance of survey data across the project lifecycle
  • Produce standard deliverables: datasets, data tables, codeframes and documentation
  • Support weighting, significance testing and statistical analyses under guidance from senior analysts
  • Learn and apply Python, R and automated processing techniques to reduce manual effort
  • Use AI-assisted tools for coding, QA and documentation
  • Help develop and improve automated processing workflows alongside existing tools

What you need from day one

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, and meticulous attention to detail — accurate data is the whole job
  • Experience in a data, analysis or research-related role, or a strong quantitative background (e.g. statistics, economics, data science, social science with a quantitative focus) — direct survey experience is welcome but not required
  • Good command of Excel and general data handling
  • Willingness and genuine appetite to learn Python and/or R - some exposure is a plus, but we will teach you
  • Professional working proficiency in English. Knowledge of German and/or French would be an advantage

What will strengthen your application (not required)

  • Exposure to Python, R, SQL, SPSS or other statistical software
  • Familiarity with survey research or survey datasets
  • Interest in AI-assisted coding or analytical tools

Expect a structured learning path: training in survey data processing, statistics and coding, with direct mentoring from senior analysts.

What we offer

  • Indicative rate of €2,000–3,000 per month - the final offer will be agreed based on your specific skills and experience
  • Full-time engagement on an initial 12-month service contract (independent contractor or affiliate arrangement), with the intention to extend
  • Fully remote, based anywhere in the EU
  • A place in Verian's global Data Solutions team, reporting to a global manager in London, working on large assignments alongside project managers across Europe
  • Hands-on experience with Python, R, automation and AI-assisted development on real, large-scale programmes - a foundation for a serious technical career

The process - quick and simple

One introductory call, which will also cover the technical side; potentially a small practical task; then a fast decision. The work is available now and waiting - we will come back to you immediately, so if this sounds interesting, please get in touch as soon as you can.

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
