The Design Operations Specialist is a foundational role embedded within the Brand Creative team at Upstream Studios — GitLab's full-stack experience organization, where research, design, engineering, documentation, and brand come together to shape how customers experience GitLab. In this role, you will support the day-to-day operational needs of Brand Creative — helping ensure that projects are organized, workflows run smoothly, and nothing falls through the cracks. You will work under the guidance of senior team members to build foundational skills in creative operations, contributing to a team that produces world-class brand experiences across content design, ebooks, print design, brand design, and more.
This role reports to the Director, Brand Creative.
What You'll Do- Support daily project intake by logging requests, gathering briefs, and routing work to the appropriate team members
- Maintain project trackers and status dashboards to keep the team informed of progress and upcoming deadlines
- Assist in building project timelines and workback schedules under the guidance of senior team members
- Coordinate scheduling for stand-ups, kick-offs, and review meetings
- Help manage asset libraries and shared resources, ensuring files and templates are organized and accessible
- Support vendor and contractor coordination by tracking deliverables, invoices, and communication logs
- Document processes and procedures as directed, contributing to the team's operational knowledge base
- Identify bottlenecks or blockers in active projects and surface them promptly to senior team members
- Use AI tools to assist with routine tasks such as drafting briefs, summarizing project updates, and organizing intake information
- 1–2 years of experience in a creative or design project coordination role
- Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., Asana, Monday.com, Workfront, or similar)
- Basic understanding of creative production workflows, including content design, ebooks, print design, and brand design
- Awareness of AI-powered productivity tools and openness to incorporating them into day-to-day work
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, remote-first environment
- Eagerness to learn and grow within design operations
The base salary range for this role’s listed level is currently for residents of the United States only. This range is intended to reflect the role's base salary rate in locations throughout the US. Grade level and salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant, equity with other team members, alignment with market data, and geographic location. The base salary range does not include any bonuses, equity, or benefits. See more information on our benefits and equity. Sales roles are also eligible for incentive pay targeted at up to 100% of the offered base salary.
