Job summary
We are seeking a DevOps Engineer who will play a role in updating the state of our infrastructure, automation, and operational excellence. This role requires a understanding of systems, networking, monitoring, and security, with a strong bias toward automation, reliability and scale.
What you will do
- Works on problems of moderate scope which are often varied and routine where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
- Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
- Applies learned techniques and contributes to analysis and investigation to solve problems.
- Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments.
- Builds productive internal/external working relationships to resolve mutual problems by collaborating on procedures or transactions.
- Focuses on providing standard professional advice and creating initial reports/analyzes for review by experienced team professionals.
- Technical knowledge using: Ansible, Python, Packer, AWS (EC2, IAM, VPC, etc), Linux.
- Open minded, flexible, willingness and ability to learn new technologies as required.
- Utilize best practices in release management, incident management, capacity planning, and operational readiness.
- Proactively identify opportunities to increase system resiliency.
- Participate in on-call rotation, demonstrating strong customer empathy and responsiveness to incidents.
- Own and improve standard operating procedures and system documentation.
What you will have
- Strong Linux systems administration background with a deep understanding of how Linux interacts with hardware (CPU, memory, disk, networking).
- Experience in scripting and automation using Ansible, Bash, Python, Packer, and Terraform.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, IAM, VPC, etc.)
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and CI/CD concepts.
- Experience with datacenter operations including racking, stacking, and remote system management.
- Experience with managing and configuration of systems at scale with zero-touch provisioning approaches.
- Experience managing monitoring systems and developing custom dashboards for observability.
- Experience with networking within a linux environment (Router -> Switch -> Server -> Virtualization -> Linux -> Service) ; BGP and DNS experience is a plus.
- Experience with DevOps principles, Agile methodologies, and software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
- Ability to self-manage, communicate effectively, and collaborate with diverse technical teams.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
