If you have a growth mindset, naturally like to think big and bold, and are energized by the fast-paced environment of a true industry disruptor, you’ll find your place here.  We value winning together—while learning, having fun, and making a profound difference for the dreamers and builders in the world.

We are looking for an Account Director who is passionate about startups and digital native enterprises fueling the next wave of SaaS, FinTech, and AI innovation.

As an Account Director at DigitalOcean, you will join a dynamic team dedicated to revolutionizing cloud computing and AI. We're looking for a driven Account Executive to embed themselves within the technology and startup ecosystems. Your mission is to fuel our growth by partnering with the most promising SaaS, FinTech, and AI startups, from stealth founders to rapidly scaling teams. In this role, you’ll be one of the main faces of DigitalOcean in your local community, forging relationships with builders and technical leaders to win their business. Success means being a true customer advocate, working across teams to ensure your region's top innovators have the simple, powerful cloud they need to succeed

What You’ll Do:

  • Immerse yourself in the tech ecosystem to identify, engage, and win the most promising startups.
  • Own the relationship with high potential accounts, acting as the primary point of contact for their business and technical needs.
  • Advocate for your customers internally, working with support and engineering to remove technical roadblocks and ensure their success.
  • Drive account growth by maintaining meaningful contact and identifying new opportunities.
  • Manage and negotiate contract renewals, communicating the value of new features to drive expansion and upsell opportunities.
  • Partner with marketing, product, and customer success teams to deliver a best-in-class customer experience.
  • Translate customer feedback from your customers and prospects into clear insights for our Product and Engineering teams to shape the roadmap.

What You’ll Add to DigitalOcean:

  • 10+ years experience as an account executive or account manager for a technical product or experience as a sales or support engineer.
  • Cloud Infrastructure and AI experience preferred.
  • You are an owner who thrives in ambiguity and can build strategic plans from a blank slate. You don't just manage priorities; you define them for your team or territory, aligning all activities with the company's highest-level objectives and setting the operational tempo for others.
  • You possess deep expertise in architecting, implementing, and scaling customer onboarding and success frameworks from the ground up. You can lead the strategic design of these programs and demonstrate how your initiatives will measurably impact and protect long-term revenue (e.g., NRR, expansion, and logo retention).
  • You demonstrate strong executive presence and can command a room, building consensus and influencing C-level stakeholders. You are responsible for architecting and communicating the long-term strategic account plan and quarterbacking all internal resources to ensure its success.
  • You excel at building and leveraging executive-level champion relationships across your portfolio. You own the 'voice of the customer' program for your segment, systematically channeling C-level feedback to directly influence product roadmap and GTM strategy.

Compensation Range:
  • $166,400 - $208,000

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
