Overview

Microsoft is seeking a Director of Business Planning, Education and Industry Monetization. This leader will be working in the Cloud and AI Platforms organization leading monetization for two of the most exciting and mission-driven areas for the business: our Education and Healthcare offerings. AsDirector of Business Planning, Education and Industry Monetization, you will be working to create profitable growth for Microsoft’s solutions tailored for Education, Healthcare, and other industries. This scope includes AI products such as Dragon Copilot for Healthcare and Microsoft 365 Copilot for Education. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Cloud and AI Platforms Monetization, you will manage a team of talented business planners across different career stage levels. You will be a senior business leader and talented people manager who can collaborate successfully and drive impact across organizational boundaries. You will develop business strategies, compelling monetization approaches, and effective packaging and pricing approaches to drive Microsoft’s growth.

Responsibilities
  • Business Strategy – Define and document business strategies with the targeted audiences and ensure the initiatives are aligned with those strategies and are well understood and prioritized across teams.
  • Monetization Approach – Develop the approach for how Microsoft monetizes in this space including building and optimizing freemium and paid acquisition and growth strategies.
  • Packaging and Pricing – Define and deliver plans for specific offers, SKUs, and other packaging options to implement the monetization approach and create profitable growth.
  • Transactability and Execution – Leveraging existing team processes, ensure Microsoft delivers a coherent customer experience across offers and channels.
  • Business Results – Create and share insights on what is working and what is not working to achieve business outcomes to enhance go-forward strategies.

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Computer Science, Economics, Business, or related field AND 6+ years product management, corporate strategy, pricing, and/or finance experience
    • OR equivalent experience.

Additional or preferred qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Computer Science, Economics, Business, or related field AND 12+ years  product management, corporate strategy, pricing, and/or finance experience
    • OR Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA), or related field AND 8+ years product management, corporate strategy, pricing, and/or finance experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years people management and/or informal/indirect team leadership experience.
  • 12+ years experience in product management, corporate strategy, pricing, and/or finance specifically in the tech sector
  • Experience with business models, business transformation, value-based pricing, or corporate strategy
  • Project Management experience
  • Change Management experience

Business Planning M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 - $251,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,600 - $272,300 per year.
