Reports to: Senior Director of Ecommerce
Location: Remote - US

About the Role

As our Director, Ecommerce and Marketing Analytics, you will serve as the analytical hub of Sur La Table — building the frameworks, standards, and workflows that transform data into decisions across eCommerce, Marketing, Finance, Retail, Merchandising, Inventory Planning, and Operations. This role exists because Sur La Table needs a single, trusted analytical voice that can move the organization beyond reactive reporting and toward proactive, AI-enabled insight leadership. You will own the integrity of core datasets, define company-wide KPI frameworks, and establish how AI is responsibly integrated into planning and performance workflows.

At six months, success looks like a unified metrics framework adopted across functions, repeatable AI-assisted insight workflows embedded into executive reviews, and measurable improvement in the quality and speed of data-backed decisions across the business. At twelve months, you will have built a scalable analytics function with clear standards, a pipeline of junior talent, and a reputation as the company's most trusted source of commercial truth.

This is a lean team. You will own a lot, move fast, and make decisions with full end-to-end responsibility.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in Analytics, Strategy, or Data Leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated experience leading analytics across multiple business functions in a commerce-driven business (retail, eCommerce, CPG, or marketplace).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of traffic acquisition channels and their downstream impact on site behavior, including the ability to develop reliable forecasts that drive strategic decision-making.
  • Advanced SQL and strong analytical modeling capabilities.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and governing AI-enabled analytics workflows, including validation frameworks that pressure-test AI outputs against source data and commercial logic.
  • Experience defining KPI frameworks and resolving cross-functional metric misalignment to establish a single, trusted view of performance.
  • Proven ability to translate complex data into clear, compelling narratives that move executive leadership from insight to action.
  • Track record of proactive insight generation — not reactive reporting.
  • Ability to work standard Eastern Time business hours.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on expertise with Heap or a similar event-based web analytics platform.
  • Comfort working with structured data formats (e.g., JSON), event schemas, and data instrumentation in partnership with Product Engineering teams.
  • Experience embedding analytics workflows directly into executive planning cycles and financial performance reviews.

Why Join

The people who do best here are builders. They take ownership, move fast, and want to see the direct impact of their work.
  • Impact at the Executive Level: You will work directly with brand leadership and senior operators, with your insights informing decisions that affect the entire Sur La Table business — from growth strategy to margin and inventory.
  • AI-First Skill Building: You will get hands-on with the most advanced AI tools in the market, building automation and insight workflows that set you apart in any industry.
  • Full Ownership of the Analytics Function: You will define the standards, build the infrastructure, and shape how data-driven decision-making works at Sur La Table — with the autonomy to do it right.
  • Competitive Benefits (US): Paid time off policies, 401(k) match, medical/dental/vision and a variety of supplemental policies, and employee discounts at our portfolio companies.

Interview Process

    1. Recruiter Screen: If you align with our vision and meet the qualifications, we will reach out to schedule a conversation, learn more about your background, and introduce Sur La Table.
    2. Take-Home Challenge: You will complete a short AI or analytics challenge so we can understand how you approach problem definition, data interpretation, and execution.
    3. Deep-Dive Interviews: Participate in structured interviews with Sur La Table leadership focused on your analytics experience, AI-enabled workflow design, and cross-functional influence.
    4. Reference Checks: Conducted in parallel with the final stages where possible.
    5. Offer: We move quickly for the right candidate.

For US-based candidates, this posting is intended for candidates that reside in the following states: AZ, DE, FL, GA, IN, LA, MI, MS, MO, NV, NC, OK, PA, TN, TX, UT, WV, WI, and WY.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
