About the Role:
Fetch is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead the Advertiser Experience collective within Ad Platform. You will lead the engineering teams building tools for advertisers, Sales, and Ad Operations (AdOps), with responsibility for technical strategy, delivery, and team effectiveness across the domain.
A central focus of this role is building the next generation of Fetch Ad Manager (FAM) to support objective-based buying across advertiser segments and both self-service and managed workflows. You will guide the transition from existing tooling to FAM, creating a cohesive advertiser experience while maintaining the workflows advertisers and commercial teams depend on.
Working closely with Product, Design, Sales, and Go-to-Market (GTM) partners, you will turn evolving business needs into clear technical direction, measurable outcomes, and achievable plans. You will develop engineering leaders and establish the architecture, ownership, and engineering standards needed to support the platform over time.
This is a full-time role that can be held from one of our US offices or remotely in the United States.
Role Responsibilities:
- Own engineering strategy and outcomes for Advertiser Experience. Set technical direction and partner with Product and Design on priorities, sequencing, and measures of success across product adoption, workflow effectiveness, technical quality, and delivery.
- Lead the next generation of FAM. Guide the systems and experiences that connect advertiser objectives to campaign planning, creation, budget management, and reporting across self-service and managed workflows.
- Lead the transition from existing tooling to FAM. Determine which capabilities to consolidate, rebuild, integrate, or retire. Establish a phased migration that supports adoption, preserves essential workflows, and reduces duplicated systems and operational complexity.
- Establish technical coherence across the domain. Guide architecture across applications, APIs, services, and data flows. Set shared expectations for reliability, scalability, security, and maintainability, balancing near-term delivery with long-term system health.
- Align technical and commercial partners. Work with Sales, GTM, AdOps, Product, and Design to understand needs, resolve competing priorities, and agree on rollout and operational changes. Partner with adjacent Ad Platform teams on dependencies, ownership, and architectural decisions.
- Develop engineering leaders and teams. Hire and coach technical leads, and engineers. Set clear expectations, provide actionable feedback, address performance gaps, and build leadership capability and career growth across the collective.
- Improve engineering effectiveness. Establish clear ownership and consistent planning and delivery practices. Address systemic bottlenecks, communicate progress and risks, and hold teams accountable for technical quality and outcomes.
- Shape AI-assisted advertiser experiences. Identify where AI agents can simplify campaign work and guide decisions about interfaces, APIs, permissions, transparency, and human control.
Minimum Requirements:
- Experience leading multiple engineering teams and developing engineering leaders, with accountability for technical strategy, delivery, performance, and team health.
- Substantial experience in advertising or ad tech, including advertiser workflows, campaign management, reporting, and the operational needs of Sales and AdOps.
- A track record of translating ambiguous business problems into technical direction and delivering measurable customer and business outcomes.
- Strong technical judgment across web applications, APIs, backend services, and data flows. You can guide architectural decisions, establish standards across teams, and evaluate tradeoffs involving reliability, scalability, security, and maintainability.
- Experience modernizing established platforms and migrating users and workflows while maintaining essential operations.
- Demonstrated ability to align Product, Design, Sales, GTM, and operational partners around shared priorities, clear decisions, and practical delivery plans.
- Success coaching engineering leaders, growing talent, and building teams with clear ownership, high standards, and sustainable working practices.
- Clear communication with technical and nontechnical audiences, including the ability to explain complex decisions and influence teams beyond your direct reporting lines.
Preferred Requirements:
- Building advertiser self-service platforms or supporting objective-based campaign buying.
- Designing AI-assisted workflows, agent integrations, or external APIs, with an informed approach to evaluating their usefulness and maintaining advertiser trust and control.
