Job Description:

At Remitly, we believe everyone deserves the freedom to access, move, and manage their money wherever life takes them. Since 2011, we've tirelessly delivered on our promise to customers sending money globally, providing secure, simple, and reliable ways to manage their money with peace of mind.
We're looking for builders, reimaginers, and global thinkers who want to work at the intersection of technology, trust, and transformation. If you're excited to redefine how work gets done through AI, automation, and operational excellence, we'd love to meet you.

About the Role

We’re hiring a Director of People Operations & Workforce Technology (AI) to help build the next generation of our People organization. This is not a traditional HR Operations role. It is an opportunity to lead transformation at the intersection of people, process and technology.

You will own the operational backbone of the People Team redesigning end-to-end workflows, strengthening our systems and shared services, and embedding AI and automation into how work gets done. Your work will make the employee experience simpler, improve execution and create capacity across Talent Acquisition, People Partners, Total Rewards, Learning & Development, and People Analytics.

The ideal candidate will bring strength in four areas:

  • Leading through change: You have led global teams through significant transformation, brought clarity to ambiguity and built alignment across stakeholders.

  • AI and automation: You have applied AI and automation to real People workflows, moving beyond experimentation to measurable improvements in speed, quality and capacity.

  • Program management: You can translate strategy into a clear roadmap with strong governance, accountable owners, milestones and measurable outcomes.

  • Process improvement: You can diagnose friction, redesign work end to end and build simpler, more scalable ways of operating.

We’re looking for a builder who can be both strategic and do the hands on work. Success in this role requires strong operational judgment, exceptional program management and process-improvement skills, and hands-on experience applying AI and automation within a People organization.

You Will

People Operations and Service Delivery

  • Lead the evolution of our global People Operations model, including Tier 0/1 support, employee lifecycle processes and shared services.

  • Create a simple, consistent front door for employees and managers to get answers, complete transactions and access support.

  • Establish clear service standards, ownership and escalation paths across the People Team.

  • Improve the quality, speed and consistency of core processes from hire through exit.

Build systems and insights that enable better decisions

  • Own the People technology ecosystem, including Workday and supporting platforms.

  • Improve workforce data quality, governance, and reporting.

  • Translate workforce data into actionable recommendations for business leaders.

AI and Automation

  • Own the People Operations automation roadmap, prioritizing the opportunities with the greatest employee and business impact.

  • Redesign workflows end to end rather than automating individual tasks.

  • Move AI use cases from experimentation to scaled adoption with clear owners, governance and measurable outcomes.

  • Partner with IT, Engineering, Legal, Compliance and People leaders to ensure solutions are secure, compliant and integrated with our broader technology environment.

  • Measure the impact of AI through improvements in capacity, cycle time, quality and employee experience.

Process Improvement and Operating Model

  • Evaluate how work moves across People Operations, Talent Acquisition, People Partners, Total Rewards, Learning & Development, and People Analytics.

  • Simplify processes, clarify decision rights and reduce unnecessary handoffs.

  • Design an operating model that connects people, processes, systems, data and content.

  • Build mechanisms for continuous improvement, including process reviews, performance metrics and regular content audits.

  • Identify where work should be automated, centralized, standardized or remain human by design.

Program Management and Governance

  • Turn People strategy into an integrated roadmap with clear priorities, owners, milestones and outcomes.

  • Lead complex, cross-functional programs from design through implementation and adoption.

  • Establish operating rhythms that make progress, dependencies, risks and decisions visible.

  • Manage competing priorities and ensure resources are focused on the work with the greatest impact.

  • Communicate clearly with senior leaders and translate complex work into practical decisions.

You Bring

  • 10+ years of experience leading People Operations and Global Teams, HR Technology, Workforce Strategy, Business Operations, or a related operational function within a high-growth technology company.

  • Ability to lead execution of complex M&A, restructures, and People technology implementations.

  • Develop repeatable playbooks that enable consistent execution across the company.

  • Demonstrated success designing scalable operating models, workflows, and business processes.

  • Experience implementing AI, automation, or digital transformation initiatives that improved operational performance.

  • Strong systems thinking with experience leading Workday or enterprise People technology platforms.

  • Experience building executive dashboards and translating workforce data into business decisions.

  • Exceptional program management skills with the ability to lead complex cross-functional initiatives.

  • Strong business acumen and the ability to connect People investments directly to business outcomes.

  • High comfort operating in ambiguity with a bias for action and continuous improvement.

You Are

  • A builder who enjoys creating systems that make organizations more effective.

  • Curious about AI and energized by finding better ways to work.

  • Data-driven, but pragmatic.

  • Comfortable challenging legacy processes and introducing new ways of operating.

  • An exceptional collaborator who builds trust across technical and business teams.

  • Passionate about operational excellence and continuous improvement.
