The Director of Product Management will oversee the vision and execution of SaaS solutions in healthcare, emphasizing compliance, leadership, and data-driven strategies.
The summary above was generated by AI

The Director of Product Management will lead the strategic vision, roadmap, and execution of innovative SaaS solutions that transform healthcare delivery and patient outcomes. This role requires a strong blend of healthcare domain expertise, SaaS product leadership, and emerging technology acumen, including AI/ML integration. The Director will operate as a highly autonomous, solutions‑oriented leader—proactively identifying opportunities, navigating regulatory and organizational complexity, and driving outcomes rather than escalating obstacles. Partnering closely with engineering, design, compliance, and clinical stakeholders, this leader will deliver secure, scalable, and compliant products that meet regulatory standards and market needs. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, data‑driven decision maker, and influential leader who thrives in a fast‑paced, highly regulated environment and knows how to get things done.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Vision & Roadmapping

  • Ability to define and communicate a clear product vision aligned with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and market trends.
  • Expertise in building dynamic roadmaps that connect long-term strategy to short-term execution, balancing innovation with compliance.
  • Skills in prioritization frameworks (e.g., RICE, MoSCoW) to manage limited resources effectively.

2. Deep Domain Knowledge (Healthcare + SaaS)

  • Understanding of clinical workflows, healthcare regulations (HIPAA, FDA), and interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR).
  • Familiarity with SaaS fundamentals: subscription models, cloud architecture, data security, and scalability.
  • Ability to translate complex healthcare requirements into usable, compliant digital solutions.

3. Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Proven capability to lead and mentor product teams, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and proactive ownership.
  • A self‑starter who drives collaboration across engineering, design, compliance, marketing, and clinical stakeholders to remove obstacles and advance outcomes.
  • Strong communication and influence skills, with the ability to independently build alignment and secure buy‑in from executives and external partners.

4. Business Acumen and Commercial Ownerships

  • Own and act on key product performance metrics, including revenue, growth, adoption, and ROI, to ensure strong overall portfolio health.
  • Apply a commercial mindset to product strategy, prioritizing solutions and expansions that increase customer value and drive new revenue opportunities.
  • Partner with Marketing to align product strategy with go‑to‑market plans, positioning, and launches.
  • Collaborate closely with Finance to guide investment decisions, evaluate portfolio performance, and ensure sustainable, data‑driven growth.

5. Data-Driven Decision Making & Analytics

  • Proficiency in product analytics, A/B testing, and performance measurement using tools like SQL, Tableau, or similar.
  • Ability to leverage data for market analysis, customer insights, and continuous improvement.
  • Comfort with KPIs and OKRs to track product success and inform strategic pivots

6. Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management

  • Strong grasp of healthcare compliance frameworks and ability to embed them into product design and delivery.
  • Risk assessment and mitigation skills, ensuring zero tolerance for breaches in patient safety or data privacy.
  • Capability to balance innovation with regulatory constraints without compromising speed-to-market.

7. AI/ML Integration & Innovation

  • Understand AI/ML fundamentals and their application in healthcare (predictive analytics, clinical decision support, personalization).
  • Collaborate with data science teams to integrate AI-driven features responsibly.
  • Ensure ethical AI practices and compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and intelligent insights to improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field. Master’s degree (MBA, MS in Health Informatics, or similar) preferred.
  • 10+ years in product management, with at least 5 years in leadership roles.
  • Proven experience in SaaS product lifecycle management.
  • Healthcare technology background:
  • Exposure to EHR systems, interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR).
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, FDA, and other compliance frameworks.
  • AI/ML exposure:
  • Leading or collaborating on AI-driven product features (predictive analytics, personalization).
  • Track record of building and scaling products in regulated environments.
  • Strong experience in stakeholder management, executive communication, and cross-functional leadership.

Other Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications:

Certifications that add value:

  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or Pragmatic Institute Certification.
  • Healthcare-specific certifications (e.g., CPHIMS – Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems).
  • AI/ML or Data Science courses for technical fluency.

  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
