Skillsoft is seeking a Director of SLED Sales to lead and develop a high performing sales team to drive top-line revenue growth by driving customer retention, upsell, cross-sell and new customer acquisition in our U.S. State, Local, and Higher Education (SLED) customer segment. In this role you will have the opportunity to recruit, lead and develop a team that will grow Skillsoft’s SLED business by applying a strategic solution-selling approach. Like our customers, we’re always evolving and making sure individuals, teams, and enterprises have exactly what they need to grow.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a team to drive top-line revenue growth through the retention and growth of Skillsoft’s existing U.S SLED customer base
- Drive Skillsoft’s SLED new customer acquisition motion to build pipeline and accelerate execution
- Oversee a team that will partner with Specialist reps on cross-sell opportunities
- Have a track record of leading SLED sales teams to over-quota achievement and will lead and develop a team focused on building an ambitious pipeline of both existing customer growth and new customer acquisition.
- Lead and motivate a team that will win by aligning customer’s business and organizational strategic initiatives with the outcomes that Skillsoft can help drive
- Influence growth and new customer acquisition by aligning at the senior leadership levels
- Partner with related sales, customer success, marketing, and support resources in the successful advancement of critical opportunities and market penetration
- Responsible for meeting preparation with research, composing agendas agreed on by customer and a tailored presentation coupled with impeccable follow-up
- Outline measurable and defined business objectives and sales goals with timelines, (related to revenue and growth of whitespace)
- Provide management, feedback, forecasting, and recommendations related to pipeline health, risks, opportunity, and progress against goals
Skills & Qualifications:
- 14+ years of professional experience in B2B PaaS or SaaS sales management with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 7+ years of people leadership, leading a team of 5+ sales professionals
- Experience leading public sector, state and local government and/or Higher Ed sales teams
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop sales professionals, maximizing effectiveness, productivity and accountability
- Experience developing and executing regional sales plans addressing new customer acquisition and existing customer growth
- Ability to navigate through complex organizations and sell to multiple decision-makers, including the “C Suite”
- Possess creativity and proficiency in supporting sales cycles, including prospecting activity, qualifying opportunities, negotiating and closing sales and generating repeat business
- Experience navigating complex public sector contract processes and vehicles
- Experience managing strategic public sector partner ecosystems
Target base salary range for this job requisition is anticipated to be approximately $160,000 - $175,000 annualized with average on target earnings including commissions of approximately $320,000 - $350,000 annually.
