Wilson Sonsini's Office of the General Counsel (OGC) is seeking a litigator to join our growing team as Discovery and Litigation Counsel.  Reporting to the General Counsel and working closely with other members of the OGC, the Discovery and Litigation Counsel will handle a broad range of litigation-related matters while supporting the OGC’s wider array of risk management work.


This position is available on a full-time or part-time schedule with hybrid remote flexibility.

 

Key Responsibilities


Dispute & Litigation Management

  • Analyze and manage disputes and pre-litigation matters, from initial fact investigation through resolution.
  • Draft and respond to demand letters and related correspondence.
  • Interact with outside counsel, opposing counsel, and firm personnel.
  • Respond to non-party subpoenas and other legal process.

Document & Discovery Management

  • Manage and conduct document collection and review in connection with matters involving the firm and its clients.
  • Manage litigation holds and supervise document preservation.

Research, Policy & Risk Management Support

  • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on litigation, ethics, and risk management issues.
  • Draft, review, and revise firm templates and policies.
  • Prepare training materials for attorneys and professional staff.
  • Provide general support for the wide array of risk management duties performed by the Office of the General Counsel.

 

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active bar license required, in California or another jurisdiction in which Wilson Sonsini has an office.
  • 3-6 years of litigation experience at a law firm; experience with professional responsibility, risk management, or law firm loss-prevention matters is a plus.
  • Strong ability to work both independently and collaboratively with lawyers and departments across the firm while managing shifting priorities.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, research, writing, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to excellent client service.
  • Excellent discretion and professionalism in handling confidential and sensitive information.
The primary location for this job posting is in Palo Alto, but other locations may be listed. The actual base pay offered will depend upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to the selected candidate’s qualifications, years of relevant experience, level of education, professional certifications and licenses, and work location. The anticipated pay range for this position is as follows:

Palo Alto, New York, San Francisco: $163,200 - $220,800 per year. Austin, Boston, Boulder, Century City, Delaware, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, San Diego, Seattle: $147,050 - $198,950 per year.

The compensation for this position may include a discretionary year-end merit bonus based on performance. We offer a highly competitive salary and benefits package.
