About BRINC:

At BRINC, we are redefining public safety with an innovative ecosystem of life-saving tools. Our journey started with the development of drones and ruggedized throw phones, designed to access unsafe areas and establish communication to de-escalate situations. Today, we've expanded into creating and deploying 911 response networks, where drones are dispatched to 911 calls to provide real-time visual data, enhancing safety and enabling de-escalation-focused responses. Our cutting-edge solutions are utilized by over 600 public safety agencies across America and the company has raised over $150M from investors, including Index Ventures, Motorola Solutions, Sam Altman, Dylan Field, Mike Volpe, Alexandr Wang and more. At BRINC, we are committed to recruiting the world's best talent to join us in our mission to support first responders in saving lives.

About this Role:

We are seeking talented and experienced Senior-Principal level Electrical Engineers that can lead the conceptualization, design, and testing of BRINC’s drone systems. In this role, you will be responsible for circuit design, power distribution, sensor integration, and PCB development, ensuring our products meet high performance and reliability standards. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical systems with mechanical, software, and autonomy components, playing a key role in bringing innovative technology to market.

This role demands specialized expertise in electrical engineering, but at BRINC, our Senior Engineers are also versatile problem-solvers. You’ll take ownership of our toughest technical challenges, and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where adaptability is critical.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Own hardware development from start to finish - from specification to design, prototype, testing and manufacturing.

  • Work collaboratively with software, mechanical, perception, controls, and manufacturing engineers.

  • Design both flight hardware and test setups to validate designs.

  • Establish top-level design architectures and implementation methodologies for the team. Clearly communicate design decisions with internal stakeholders.

  • Perform and document design analysis and testing results; make data-driven decisions to land key product features.

  • Work closely with product partners to ensure the final product meets design intent and customer needs.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the broader electrical engineering team.

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of industry experience in electrical engineering

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Computer, or related Engineering degree

  • Experience with industry standard layout & schematic capture tools and deep knowledge of PCB design best practices

  • Experience developing PCBAs for digital embedded systems (MCU, SoC, FPGA, etc.)

  • Experience designing power regulation and delivery systems

  • Experience with standard embedded interfaces (I2C, SPI, UART, etc.) as well as high-speed camera, display, and memory interfaces (MIPI, DDR, PCIe, etc.)

Preferred Skills
  • 10+ years of experience designing electronics for Aerospace, Robotics, Automotive, Consumer Electronics, or related industries

  • Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering or related degree

  • Experience developing UAV/UAS electronic systems for commercial, industrial, or defense applications

  • Experience working with domestic and international supply chain partners

  • In-depth understanding of partnering with Mechanical and Product Design engineers to design for high shock, vibration, humidity and thermal environments

  • Experience working with FPGAs (Xilinx), including FW development

  • Experience running Signal Integrity and Power Integrity simulations and knowledge of best practices

BRINC Culture Values:
  • Try the hard stuff

  • Be innovative - Invent the future

  • Move fast

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
