Job Description

We are looking for a results‑oriented Finance Business Partner (IC Mgr) to join our Technology Finance organization. This role serves as the primary finance partner for 2–3 Technology and Product‑aligned SVP/VP organizations, supporting financial planning, performance management, and strategic decision‑making across complex and fast‑moving portfolios.

The Finance Business Partner is embedded in the Technology and Product leadership rhythm and works closely with senior leaders to translate financial insights into actionable decisions. This role also partners closely with centralized FP&A, Accounting, Tax, Sourcing/Procurement, and other Finance teams to ensure accurate forecasting, strong financial governance, and alignment to enterprise objectives.

The ideal candidate is a self‑starter with strong financial acumen, executive communication skills, and the ability to operate effectively in a matrixed environment. This role requires comfort with ambiguity, accountability for outcomes, and the ability to balance strategic partnership with process rigor as the Tech Finance organization continues to evolve.

A day in the life:

  • Act as the primary finance partner to Technology and Product SVP/VP leaders, participating in weekly leadership meetings and supporting ongoing decision‑making.
  • Analyze and track performance across the P&L through weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting to identify trends, proactively communicate insights, and provide recommendations on shifts to ensure transparency and accountability
  • Lead monthly business reviews and in‑year outlooks, providing clear financial insights, risks, opportunities, and recommendations.
  • Partner with leaders on annual planning, scenario analysis, and investment business cases to support prioritization and trade‑off decisions.
  • Own financial inputs, assumptions, and narratives for supported portfolios while partnering with centralized FP&A teams on forecasting models, consolidation, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with Accounting, Tax, and Sourcing/Procurement on capitalization, expense treatment, vendor considerations, and financial governance.
  • Drive process improvement, automation, and forecasting discipline to improve accuracy, clarity, and predictability across Technology and Product portfolios.

You own this if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree (finance or economics preferred)
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in Finance, FP&A, or related roles, with demonstrated scope and accountability progression.
  • Experience serving as a Finance Business Partner to senior leaders, ideally supporting Technology, Engineering, or Product organizations.
  • Strong financial planning, forecasting, and analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Proven ability to influence without authority and operate effectively in a matrixed, cross‑functional environment.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills, including experience working in SmartView‑enabled Excel environments.
  • Experience with Oracle‑based ERP systems, SmartView, and Workday; exposure to SQL, Looker, Anaplan, or Alteryx is a plus.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
