We’re Sharp Performance

Sharp Performance exists so that everyone who answers the call has someone in their corner who has walked in their shoes.

We help first responders and their spouses thrive through confidential coaching from people with similar lived experience. Our coaches have carried the badge, worn the gear, or stood beside someone who did. Through our mobile platform, we connect law enforcement, firefighters, and other frontline professionals with coaches who understand the job because they have lived it.

We’re early-stage and backed by amazing investors. The team is small enough that your work shows up in the rollout, the product, and the customer’s experience within weeks. If building something that matters alongside people who hold a high standard sounds better than a safe seat somewhere else, come build it with us.

The Opportunity

We’re hiring a Head of Marketplace to run the system that connects first responders with the coaches who have walked in their shoes. This role reports directly to the CEO.

Sharp is a two-sided marketplace, with our members as our ultimate end user. On one side are departments and the first responders (members) inside them. On the other are coaches who have lived the job. The Head of Marketplace owns how those two sides come together: how many coaches to hire and where, the optimal member and coach match, and how we measure success of those critical pieces. Our implementation and customer success teams give you the departments and you ensure a best-in-class experience for our members from activation to retention.

This is a cross-functional role. You will work closely with Coaching, Product, Marketing, and Customer Success, and you will lead our Operations function: the Lead Product Analyst, all of our data efforts, and BizOps. You set the operating rhythm for the company and bring the numbers to every leadership conversation.

This role is remote within the US, with travel to Carlsbad, CA and to customer departments as the work requires.

What You’ll Own

  • Marketplace Planning: Balance supply and demand. Know our exact moment of undersupply and flag future moments of oversupply. Work cross-functionally with every stakeholder with a key dependency (sales, marketing, customer success, coaching).
  • Marketplace Efficiency: Define and own the metrics that show the marketplace works. Provide visibility into marketplace performance for Customer Success, and partner with Customer Success to iterate and eventually scale key initiatives to improve marketplace metrics.
  • Lead: Own our data. Metrics, dashboards, and reporting (investor and customer) live with your team. Lead our product analytics and continue to instill trust in our data. Lead our bizops team and set the company’s operating rhythm. Create visibility across goals so everyone knows what matters this quarter and why. Set priorities, hire, and hold the standard.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Give GTM the supply and cost inputs it needs to set pricing. Give Marketing readiness inputs for launches. Give Customer Success the engagement data it needs to drive renewals.

Who Thrives Here

This role is not for everyone. You will thrive if you:

  • Have scaled the provider network or marketplace operations at a telehealth or care marketplace, working with independent (1099) providers, employed (W-2) providers, or both, and can show how you improved time to first appointment, match rate, and provider utilization.
  • Are comfortable with data models but can explain them in simple terms.
  • Make decisions with incomplete information and adjust fast when the data says you were wrong.
  • Prefer ownership over supervision.
  • Care deeply about serving those who serve others.

Why you’ll love working here

Sharp is a small, fast-growing team, and our success starts with the people doing the work. The package is built to support your health, your finances, and your growth:

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance for you and your family.
  • Flexible PTO to recharge and perform at your best.
  • Competitive salary and meaningful equity that reflect the seniority of the role.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Unlimited access to the Sharp Performance platform and our coaches.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
