  • $29.88 - $38.86 per hour
  • Potential 90-day performance-based raise

Job Description

The Human Resources Generalist role supports a division of approximately 108 employees within a prepared foods and brand organization. The division is a sub-section of a larger wholesale produce company. The HR Generalist is on site and reports directly to the General Manager. This role is responsible for a wide range of HR functions with the support of corporate human resources i.e. benefits, safety, HRIS and payroll.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Any combination of the following job duties):

  • Manage full-cycle recruiting including job postings, screening, interviewing, and onboarding.
  • Handle employee relations issues and provide guidance to management and staff.
  • Manage leaves of absence including FMLA, disability, and personal leave requests.
  • Administer workers compensation claims, SAW reimbursements, OSHA reporting & compliance and coordinate with insurance providers.
  • Support Safety Committee and safety initiatives
  • Lead employee engagement initiatives and organize company events.
  • Conduct new hire orientation and ensure a thorough and smooth onboarding experience.
  • Administer learning and development programs to support employee growth.
  • Provide general benefits support including open enrollment and employee inquiries.
  • Manage Employee File Compliance.
  • Support the Performance Review Process (90 Day and Annual Review).
  • Process and investigate Unemployment Claims.
  • All employees are responsible for food safety and are expected to notify the appropriate manager, supervisor, or key personnel if they witness any compromise to food safety or food quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development or equivalent experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting with employees, management, and HR colleagues.
  • 3+ years of experience in a generalist HR role, preferably in a food or manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to prioritize workflow to complete all tasks and have excellent time management.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Multilingual skills are a plus.
  • Ability to plan, organize, implement and follow through on projects.
  • Ability to covey a positive and professional image to applicant, employees and external customers
