MSNW Group is seeking an experienced, hands-on HR Manager to join our team and provide leadership and day-to-day HR support. This is an interim position with potential for a longer-term, permanent opportunity. 

This is an ideal opportunity for a seasoned HR professional who enjoys being both a leader and a doer. You’ll lead and support our small HR team while remaining actively involved in the everyday HR needs of a growing organization. 

We’re looking for someone who can step in quickly, build strong relationships with our leaders and employees, and bring sound judgment, organization, and practical HR expertise to the team. 

This is an hourly, benefits-eligible position working approximately 30 hours per week with a flexible hybrid schedule based out of our Ferndale, Washington office. The role will generally work 2–3 days per week in the office, depending on business needs and the week’s priorities, with remaining hours worked remotely. We are initially seeking someone on an interim basis, and the potential of a longer-term opportunity will be determined based on organizational needs and mutual fit. 

 Position Details 

  • Location: Ferndale, Washington 
  • Schedule: Approximately 30 hours per week 
  • Employment: Hourly 
  • Pay Range: $40.00–$50.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications 
  • Benefits: This position is benefits eligible in accordance with MSNW Group’s benefit plans and eligibility requirements. 
  • Work Arrangement: Flexible hybrid schedule. This role will generally work approximately 2–3 days per week in our Ferndale office, depending on the week, business needs, meetings, and other priorities. Remaining scheduled hours may be worked remotely. 
  • Position Type: Interim with potential for longer-term opportunity.

Requirements

 HR Leadership & Employee Support 

  • Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, and support to our small HR team. 
  • Serve as a trusted HR resource for managers and employees throughout the organization. 
  • Manage employee relations matters and help leaders navigate personnel issues with sound judgment and consistency. 
  • Support performance management, coaching, corrective action, and documentation. 
  • Partner with company leadership on people-related priorities and organizational needs. 
  • Help maintain a positive, accountable, and service-oriented workplace culture. 

HR Operations & Compliance 

  • Support recruiting, hiring, onboarding, employee transitions, and offboarding. 
  • Assist with benefits administration, leaves of absence, and other employee programs. 
  • Maintain organized and accurate HR records and documentation. 
  • Help ensure HR policies and practices comply with applicable Washington State and federal employment requirements. 
  • Review and strengthen HR policies, procedures, and processes where appropriate. 
  • Keep HR operations organized, responsive, and moving forward. 

Workplace Safety 

  • Oversee and support MSNW Group’s workplace safety program, including safety training, documentation, and ongoing compliance. 
  • Help ensure compliance with applicable workplace safety requirements, including Washington State L&I/DOSH and OSHA requirements. 
  • Support workplace incident reporting, investigation and follow-up, workers’ compensation, and return-to-work processes. 
  • Partner with managers and employees to promote safe work practices and strengthen our culture of safety. 
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety processes, documentation, training, and accountability. 

What We’re Looking For 

  • Strong HR generalist experience with the ability to independently manage a broad range of HR responsibilities. 
  • Experience leading, mentoring, or supervising HR team members. 
  • Solid working knowledge of Washington State employment practices and compliance requirements. 
  • Experience supporting workplace safety programs and regulatory compliance. 
  • Strong employee-relations, coaching, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Experience with recruiting, onboarding, benefits, leaves, performance management, and other core HR functions. 
  • Comfortable moving between leadership-level conversations and hands-on HR work. 
  • Excellent judgment, discretion, organization, and communication skills. 
  • Ability to quickly assess situations, establish priorities, and take action. 
  • A practical, approachable style and the ability to build trust with employees and leaders at all levels. 
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification is a plus.
