Blink is looking for a talented entry-level IT Generalist – Lab Tech to join our Seattle studio. Blink’s IT Generalist will support our staff and clients with their wide range of technology needs. This role will be focused on supporting Blink’s UX research lab technologies and will require functional knowledge of both macOS and Windows operating systems and an understanding of modern audio-visual equipment and streaming technologies. This individual will also be responsible for ticket queue and inventory management, hardware and software provisioning, and working closely with our studio host team. 

To be successful in this role you will need to be someone who is an expert multi-tasker, organized, skilled at patiently working with people from all technology backgrounds to keep our business running smoothly from an IT standpoint. Familiarity with LAN, WLAN, and High-Def IP-based Audio-Visual Technologies is a plus.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Managing the UX research lab technology for our Seattle studio, including setting up informative video capture techniques, streaming capabilities, and various software/hardware needs depending on the research study.
  • Delegating and responding to help tickets to assist users in troubleshooting problems.
  • Managing software and hardware inventory.
  • Collaborating with the IT team to identify opportunities for improving operation processes and policies through special projects.
  • Drafting standard operating procedures and knowledge bases for users.
  • Advocating for users while understanding business goals.

What we are looking for:

  • 1+ years of experience in a relevant field such as helpdesk or A/V tech support.
  • Basic understanding of physical networking.
  • A/V tech knowledge: Familiar with IP-based video technologies, i.e., NDI video protocol. Familiar with various audio quality control concepts.
  • Working knowledge of video/streaming systems, including video encoding and processing and applications similar to OBS.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of both macOS and Windows (administration and troubleshooting). Experience with mobile platforms.
  • Experience with using web applications like Zoom.us, Box.com, Office365.com, G-Suite, Slack, etc. 
  • Understanding of technology constraints/capabilities. 
  • Familiar with remote support tools.
