A Little About Us

The Enterprise IT team is at the forefront of Yahoo’s digital transformation, building the next generation of AI-powered productivity tools. The IT - Workforce Experiences and Communication team is seeking a Sr. Principal AI Architect (IC6) to define the vision for how Yahoo employees work. Our mission is to deliver enterprise-grade software solutions that integrate agentic AI capabilities to automate business processes and exponentially increase the productivity of the global Yahoo workforce. This team is responsible for staying ahead of the rapidly changing AI landscape, rapidly prototyping advancements, and scaling beneficial AI technologies across the enterprise.

What You’ll Do
  • Define and drive the architectural strategy for agentic, assistive, and autonomous AI systems across the Workforce Experiences ecosystem.

  • Identify and implement AI-driven efficiencies in day-to-day architectural workflows, replacing manual system mapping with automated documentation and AI-assisted design patterns.

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-quality software applications.

  • Collaborate with product managers and engineers across different time zones to understand requirements and develop technical solutions.

  • Debug and resolve software issues, providing technical support as needed.

  • Write and maintain technical documentation.

  • Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and best practices.

  • Establish and refine standards and best practices to streamline the development processes.

What You Bring

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • 8+ years of experience in building APIs, backend development and Devops.

  • Expert in at least one programming language, such as Python and Java.

  • Expertise in prompt engineering and structured interaction with LLMs to solve complex architectural challenges.

  • Proven experience building and deploying GenAI applications, Agentic workflows, and machine learning pipelines in a production environment.

  • Can bridge business requirements and technical specifications.

  • Experience in GenAI, Agents, and machine learning application development.

  • Ability to bridge high-level business strategy with deep technical specifications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Experience evaluating, refining, and validating AI-generated outputs to mitigate hallucinations and ensure enterprise security.

  • Commitment to staying current with the AI tools market and a track record of implementing automation to increase team velocity.

  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with strong attention to detail.

  • Capable of leading in a collaborative environment involving developing solutions, presenting those solutions for review by peers, and then training co-workers on the solutions.

  • Team player with good interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently.

The compensation for this position ranges from $160,965.00 - $349,885.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
