About Us

At Atolio, we are a fully remote, well-funded startup founded by experienced leaders from Splunk and PagerDuty. We’re on a mission to make organizational knowledge instantly accessible regardless of which app, service, or platform it lives in. We’re an early-stage startup combining modern cloud infrastructure, strong security practices, and thoughtful systems design to support teams building cutting-edge AI and ML products. With a collaborative culture, robust tooling, and comprehensive benefits, Atolio is a place where ownership, curiosity, and continuous improvement are valued.

About the Role

As an IT Systems Engineer, you’ll own and evolve the internal systems that power a fully remote, security-conscious technology company. You’ll be responsible for user and device management, endpoint security, SaaS tooling, access controls, and compliance support—while continuously improving reliability, automation, and employee experience.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building scalable internal systems, automating workflows with code, and partnering closely with engineering and security teams in a fast-moving startup environment.

What You’ll Do
  • Own user lifecycle management across identity providers, devices, GitHub, and SaaS tools (onboarding, offboarding, role changes).

  • Manage and improve endpoint management for a fully remote workforce (macOS and Linux), including security posture, patching, and device compliance.

  • Administer identity, access management, and SSO systems (e.g., Okta or equivalent), following least-privilege principles.

  • Manage GitHub organization settings, access controls, repositories, and automation in partnership with engineering teams.

  • Build and maintain automation for IT workflows using code (e.g., provisioning, access reviews, audits).

  • Maintain and improve internal IT systems and tooling with a focus on reliability, scalability, and developer experience.

  • Partner with security and engineering teams to support compliance initiatives (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001), audits, and evidence collection.

  • Define and enforce device, access, and security policies while balancing usability and productivity.

  • Evaluate, deploy, and manage SaaS tools used across the company.

  • Lead IT initiatives from 0→1, including system rollouts, tooling migrations, and process improvements.

  • Document systems, workflows, and standards to reduce operational toil and improve clarity.

What We’re Looking For
  • 3+ years of experience in IT systems engineering, IT operations, or a similar role in a modern tech company.

  • Good programming skills in Python or Go, with experience using code to automate systems and workflows.

  • Good experience with GitHub, including organization management, permissions, integrations, and automation.

  • Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider: AWS, Azure, or GCP.

  • Strong experience with identity and access management, including SSO/IdP platforms (Okta or similar).

  • Experience managing endpoints (especially macOS) in a remote-first environment.

  • Familiarity with security best practices, device hardening, access controls, and audit readiness.

  • Experience supporting or maintaining compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001.

  • Comfort operating in an environment with evolving processes and minimal bureaucracy.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills, ownership mindset, and attention to detail.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for a fully remote team.

Why You’ll Love Working Here
  • Make an impact from day one: help the company scale, while ensuring security is a #1 priority.

  • Autonomy and ownership: you’ll own core internal systems and shape how IT operates.

  • Remote-first culture: work where and how you’re most effective.

  • Transparent leadership: collaborate with experienced founders building meaningful technology.

  • Engineering-driven mindset: automation-first, pragmatic, and focused on real-world impact.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive salary and early-stage equity

  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage

  • Home office stipend

  • Flexible PTO policy

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
